My new GPS speedometer came today. Here are some pics up of the installation, etc. It occured to me that I can now upgrade my drivetrain and not have to worry about how to hook up the speedo to another transmission...or if my tires are the correct size....etc. etc. etc.



Here's a mock-up of what the finished install will resemble...

The GPS speedometer is "Mac-Daddy!" For a $49 item, it works great! I admit that I was skeptical about the speedometer, and that I would not like the size, 3
3/8 inches, but it looks great and works great. If you're not stuck wanting 'original' in your truck...and your speedo is not working correctly, this is the way to go. Earlier today I drove it 10 miles...it did great!

I searched "GPS Speedometer" on ebay...this is the one I bought. There are quite a few listed there. I think that they are all the same...just different prices. So I bought the least expensive one...

One thing with the GPS speedometer...it has a "sending unit" that has to be where it can pick up a signal from a satellite. Here's where and how I routed mine. It's small and no one will really notice it...

Well....I've been busy. Rebuilding my garage. I had one 16 foot door opening with 2 8 foot doors. With one door closed it left me with an 8 foot opening to get in and out of. I rebuilt the front to make Two 10 foot openings, each with Two 5 foot doors....




I still have to finish building the doors...

Bought a set of doors today. The passenger door was damaged when I bought the truck and I repaired it as best as I could. I will pick these up Monday evening.


The passenger door is definately in better condition than my original....

Obtained the doors last night and I haven't had a chance this morning to get some pics of them. According to the guy that I bought them from, they were headed to the crusher. He saved them thinking that someone could use them. They are 100% complete with all the glass, vents, handles etc. He even had the metal covers for the door bottoms. The hinges were in a separate box and they were even marked "left, right, upper, lower."

On another note...as much as I want to start on the doors today, my dad's '66 Galaxy has begun to have braking issues. We installed a new booster on it a few days ago and that did not solve the problem. I am afraid that the front rubber brake lines will need to be replaced as well. I believe some of the rubber has broken down and clogged the lines on one or both sides. Anyway....priorities....

I am replacing the original passenger door on my '64. Someone in the past had taken a prybar and pried on the door edge at the front (hinge side) and at the back edge also. I had straightened it up as well as I could and shot paint on it. Here's some pics of the issues with the door...
Lots of bondo on the top edge at the vent window...it was cracking...

Front edge of the door, but the camera doesn't show the damage as well as in actuality...

Rear edge...this must be a problem area anyway for most F-100's...



So I stripped the purchased door down to a shell. I am not going to share the process....you just take it apart...the best that you can....

The Holidays and "other" stuff is keeping me out of the garage....

Hopefully, later this week I can get back to the door. It is sanded and spot primed right now.

The passenger door is in pretty good shape. I had an hour or two to work on it today, but didn't get any pictures. I sprayed Rustoleum rust reformer inside the bottom and cleaned the outside bottom of the door down to clean shiny metal and sprayed it also with the rust reformer. I got most of the inside of the door sanded and almost ready to shoot some paint on it.

The outside of the door still needs a small amount of work to be perfect.
