Sprayed some paint this afternoon...

Now to get the outer side sprayed....

It was warm enough to spray some paint in the garage this afternoon...





I will let them flash off, install the weatherstripping and then hang them on the truck.

Weatherstrip installed....it was eazy peazy. Planning on hanging it onto the truck tomorrow....

The old door is removed...6 bolts....also eazy peazy. Ready for the new door....



Still undecided about the original door. I don't know if I want to keep it for a spare or sell it to recoop some of my $$$...

Quick tip on installing door gaskets (and there is an excellent thread about that in the "Hints and Tricks" section).

In my option, it is easier to just remove the 3 upper and 3 lower bolts and remove the door, place it on sawhorses (or in my case on the dining room table...if your wife permits, lol). You can very easily remove the old gasket and even easier, install the new gasket.

As always, start at the bottom where the plugs are located. I laid the entire gasket out to insure that the seam (the two ends of the gasket) would come together in the correct place.

Using 3M Black Weatherstrip Adhesive (bought from CarQuest) I glued about 24-30 inch sections at a time. Put the glue on the door and on the gasket, let it dry for about a minute or so and then put the gasket in place. Take the time to hold the gasket in place until you are sure that the adhesive has grabbed, which is not very long.

I have the door inside, setting against my dining room wall (actually any room and any wall will work) drying for the next 24 hours.

It took me about 30-40 minutes to glue the entire gasket in place. It helps, especially on these cold (almost winter) days to have a hot cup of coffee on hand....

My father-in-law will help me install the door this morning....

The door is hung and gapped. Vent, window, etc etc etc installed. Everything but the outer door handle and lock...




The replacement door fit and gapped much better than the original...I will finish this up tomorrow.

Taking time to do some work on my garage. Excavating....by hand....or shovel acutally. It's the poor man's way of doing it...




I need to go down about a foot at the back. Once I get there...concrete!

Continuing to "hand excavate"....Happy New Year to all!

Day 3 of excavating...I've been able to spend about 2 hours each day to digging out the floor...


I have dug all the way to the far wall. Hoping to get a layer of gravel down in the next week or so...

Yes sir! I'm planning a knee wall. I will do that first, then pour the pad. The pad might come much later this year due to $$$. I have the highest corner left to dig out and then I will layer it with gravel for the time being.

Finished up the garage floor excavation today...



Tomorrow's plan includes hauling gravel, leveling the floor with gravel and setting forms for the knee wall.

And....I needed to post something "slick" related to keep my thread relevant (lol)...took some pics as I was closing up the garage tonight...

Excavation is finished! I hauled 2 loads with my '64 F-100, 1500 pounds per load, of pea gravel and spread that out...



In the last picture you might notice that the back right corner is low...I need to haul one more load of gravel to bring it up to grade. I hope to start on the knee walls soon...
