How To Make Alt. Lt Function?

Post by FreeBird »

I've been sorting out the usual previous owner issues with the electrical system- just about finished I think except for one in particular, maybe a couple more. Anyway, original problem was alt light ('66 CC instrument panel) which stayed on even though alt was charging-would even stay on with ignition switch on acessory position. I have upgraded to a single wire high output alt, thus eliminating the regulator and the wiring for it. So, alt light does not now work at all. I would like it to work as intended-anybody know how to hook it up to do so?

I followed these instructions when I installed my "one wire" setup.

Thanks Jason, my alt. is an aftermarket unit I bought a while back for another project. Doesn't have the plug like the Delco unit, and I can't find the paperwork that came with it. Will look at/study the diagram in your link again though, when I get time later today, see if it makes sense for my install. Will have to see if I can find that paperwork again, too.
