custom cab headliner

I am a new owner of '66 Custom Cab truck.

I've been reading posts about the headliner and found them pretty discouraging. I'm not sure I want to tackle that job but I need to replace my headliner. The sides and rear piece look horrible.

My main question is:
Is the headliner in a Custom Cab truck different from a standard cab truck?
The current, homemade-looking headliner has a row of screws down the middle and a chrome strip that goes from side to side toward the rear of the headliner.

Is this stock?
Do they make repro headliners for Custom Cab trucks?

standard/ c.c headliner is the same. 4 pc for 65-66
single top section, top rear and 2 corners.

headliners are repopped.
too much $ for cardboard if you ask me.
lots of guys have made their own using an old one as a pattern.

I think I remember reading custom cab is perforated and standard cab plain.

I'm sure someone who knows for sure will verify.

My truck is 66 c/c and liner is perf'd.

I agree. Way too much $$$$ for some cardboard. Unless you are after an original look, use your original as a template and make your own. I have used sheet ABS for headliners. The local plastics store, Tap Plastics, carries the ABS in black and white, in different thicknesses. One side has a pebble finish and the other is smooth. I have used Krylon Fusion paint to change colors, also.
Upholstery suppliers also carry upholstered board which works well, if you don't care for the plastic.

Not sure what look you are going for but Roddoors makes one out of molded abs that fits pretty good and looks real good rapped in any kind of material. You can also remove it if needed to get to something or recover since it should last for years to come. They aren't real cheap but do work well.

My original 65 was perforated as well -- not a CC.

I replaced with a repopped headliner. I like the orignal look.

Do anybody have a pattern for headliners that I could buy?? I need one for a 61 Unibody small window. Mine is in peices.

Just FYI, The recent elections produced a wealth of plastic "parts" for head liners. They bend and do not rot. When you use screws to attach the center or sides the screws dont rip out either. Both McCain and Obama have signs so you could support your candidate of choice regardless of who won..................Ross

Ditto on the Roddoors. I just put one in my 64 CC last month. Took some wiggling to get in, but wife helped and I didn't have to @@#$% more than once! I LOVE the fact that it is three piece - gets rid of that back piece above the rear window. I had an upholsterer cover mine professionaly before installing. Looks better than the cardboard.

i have some corner pieces. they are in very nice shape. ezernut has seen them they are preferated. comes with the screws and the chrome clothes hook. or i could ebay them. i can get pics if you want them. i just ask that you make offer if you want them.

here are pics of the ones i have they werent preferated as i thought. i wiped them off with a dust cloth and some of the detailed paint came off with them. my intentions are to sellthese. make offer or keep the pics to see what they are suppose to look like. i am guessing the printed paint got old sitting here in the house. becaus they werent that way when i took them off last year. yes i slacked off on this. comes with the screws and the chrome coat hanger hook . no pitting in it at all. nor in the chrome screws and washers either.

Been reading your posts once in a while and know you are around - hope Glendale is warmer than PA this time of year. And about the cussin - just cuz I can't say the words doesn't mean I don't know them.
