Got some new parts!

Also got some work done.

I cut some holes so that I can get to the bed bolt nuts. I just have the boxing plates tacked in right now. I will probably weld them all in tomorrow.

Dan are you filling in all the other frame holes to give it the smooth look? I am enjoying watching your build.

I wasn't realy planning on it. not sure what holes I am using yet. I will run the fuel and brake lines before I paint, so it could still happen.

Got the final welding on the boxing plates done today.

Also made a grinding/cutting cart.

I got the 4-Link Rods Done. They turned out great!

Axle End ______________________ Frame End

Also whent ahead and did a 1" frame notch. Ran out of shielding gas just as I was finishing. Looks lik it is off to Linweld in the morning!

Nice work on the frame and 4 link setup. Will your coil overs be on the outside or inside of the frame rails? Whats going to be your rear ride height?

Coil overs will be on the outside.

Ride hight will be the Axle centerline even with the bottom of the bed. and the front will be down about 2" from that so about 12" off the ground for the front bumper and about 14" pff the ground for the rear.

Much better ride IMO with them outside the frame rail. The wider the better. Your pumpkin should clear the bed floor. I found out the hard way on mine but had planned to raise the bed floor anyway so it wasnt a issue.

Yes, it should clear. That was one of the things I made sure of. With the knotch in the frame and the axle on the stops I will have .25" from the pumpkin to the floor. It will be as low as you can go without dorking with the floor.

Wheels & Tires

I got them off CL for $450. Front tires are shot, but they will let me roll around for a while. 18" x 9.5" fronts and 18" x 10.5" rears.

Dan: That chop saw sitting on wood is going to be a fire hazard.....I usually take my chop saw outside to use it, because I don't like the cutting dust ( or sparks) in the shop....well, there are several spots outside on the concrete where the sparks coming off the backside of the chopsaw disc shooting downwards through the slot in the deck have permanently attached themselves to the concrete, and even the pressure washer (2300psi) failed to lift them

After that happened a couple times, I started putting a peice of 3/8" plywood under the chopsaw.....that wood is now completly charred black!!
So, after all the jawing....bottom line is you are working inside, so BE CAREFUL

I dislike the chopsaw so much, I finally broke down & bought a horizontal bandsaw several years back. Much better!! Actually makes an accurate 45 deg cut when doing miters, and the cuttings all stay on the deck, so cleanup is much easier.....and it's considerably quieter as well:)

I know that it is not the best setup. But I don't use it a lot. I do want to get a bandsaw. FYI: There is a fire extinguisher under it.

I plan on making a Steel worktable that will have the Chopsaw, Grinder and Bandsaw on it, but still have it be moble. Havn't done it yet because I would rather spend my time working on the Slick!

Dan: Good on ya for working on the project, rather than the tools:)

Even a peice of 18g under the chop saw would reduce the risk....

Your proposed table sounds good, how big will it be?

I have a crude fab table made of salvaged 1/2" plate, ~37"x~60", and the legs are salvage 2"x2"x0.125"WT tube, with 1" nuts welded in bottom of legs, along with a 1" stud (with another nut welded on as a foot) threaded into the legs. A third nut acts as a jam nut. This allows the table to be leveled, no matter how bad the floor is:)
The bad news is IT AINT LIGHT:)
