How many vetrans are out there?

Coast Guard from 1982 to 2007 last assignment Port of New York inspecting Foreign ships entering the ports of New York and New Jersey.

Tim, I understand your thoughts and respect them. but I don't think you, me, or any of us should sell ourselves short on "Veteran" status. I am proud to consider myself a veteran. I gave 4 years of my life, for low pay, a bad job that may have left me with long term health issues from the stuff I was exposed too, and with realization I could have been sent almost anywhere in the world at any time, with no means to object. Like you I was in during peace time (82-86), lucky I guess. I would have been gung ho to go, especially at that age.

Some have done more for our country, but through no fault of ours, just the era we served in. And during the same time so many have done less, and didn't think twice about it.

Hope I didn't sound like I was talking down to anyone, just the way I see it and thought I'd share.

Being one Who was "in the fray" so to speak, I do not look down on anyone who did put in some time, whenever it may have been. You were there if needed. Do not feel that you didn't contribute. Just be thankful you didn't have to participate in all aspects of it.
