Now that is a good sounding old Ford in my opinion!

Mine are flow master 40 classics with the LMC 2 1/4 galvaloom pipes all the way out the back. I guess I'm an oddball, but i like the resination ,as long as it aint too loud. with them out the back its not bad at all. OH and I (FOR NOW) have the stock exhaust manifolds,but planning to go shorty headers with a X pipe. I love the sound of the new mustangs that's what I'm shooting for. I had pipes dumping like the above picture without the X pipe and 18 inch cherry bombs and it was too loud sounded good tho.

Does anyone have a link to a video with the old Thrush "Tractor-Style" (long round tube like a glass pack, just not tappered on the ends) mufflers? I can't help but think I want those. I remember as a kid everyone had them and I liked the sound, I just don't remember the sound.

got dynomax, dont know what series on Aggie, 390, block hugger headers, 2.5 pippes to in front of rear tires. No X.

I like the non-X sound, the uneven rumble. pipes are Loud when gassing it, but quite civil and tolerable at all times.

I LOVED the open header sound when I put them on and had to drive around for 2 days before I could get pipes put on..... Maybe I need some cutouts!!!!

Well... made up my mind and went with a set of 2.25" Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers on my '66 F100 4x4. Sounds AWESOME!!!

If anyone is looking for a good muffler shop in the Calgary area, Al at Calgary Muffler really knows his stuff. He did exactly what I asked him and tucked everything up nice and tight so it doesn't look funny... great job!

I'm hoping to get some videos uploaded for everyone to hear the before and after sometime soon.

Mellvis...think the ones you are referring to are called Thrush header mufflers...my buddy had em on his 67 camaro w/ a tunnel rammed dual quad 355. It was plenty LOUD.

Yeah, I know, it's too late to cast a vote, but:

I'll second the vote for Dynomax mufflers - specifically, DynoMax Super Turbo (fiberglass-matted) mufflers #17733.
Non-X pipe. 2.5" pipes to just over the rear end with turn-downs dumping before the rear bumper.
However, I do have long tube headers on both 390"s.

I work at an auto shop were we make and install custom exhaust. We use FM, FM knock offs, turbo, Thrush, Dyno, etc. and if its loud you want a the FM 40's sound great. Super 40's are louder but give alot more droan. Most others tend to give a more high pitch to there sound witch can sometimes be as anoying as the drone. Dynomax is the only other that I have heard sound good coming of a v8 with no catalytic converters.

I'm a Bassani freak. Got sold on them with my Lightning. I currently have Bassani stainless true duals on my 08 with 5.4 Not a loud system until you mash the loud pedal..................................

Not sure that the sound quality is that great on my video camera, but hopefully you get an idea of what Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers sound like behind a 352 engine.
