I had mine wrong and came up with the same 2" problem.

In your engine picture DS with the header the mount has a 90% tab at the back. Mine has that facing forward.

Just a thought!

I'm guessing that the "90%" means 90 degrees, right? It is a heat bracket that came out of a 95 Bronco, from which the engine block came. Since I was running long tube headers, I decided to use it. The LS and RS mounts are the same, I believe, no?

I just found and picked up a dropped trans crossmember from a 76 F150 extended cab yesterday, and that will enable me to put the trans closer to where I think it should be. The RS header doesn't fit well, as the collector hits the bellhousing at the starter motor. I have trimmed it some, but need to trim it some more so I can get it in. Once the trans mount is in, and I know my clearances, I will finish fitting the headers, I hope!

Very solid looking pickup. By the way, what M/C did you use for your upgrade?

I used a 70 Ford F100 M/C with no power assist. Somewhere on here (maybe Uncle Skip?) this topic is covered. I think a 70 Ford PU M/C is available with drum/drum or disc/drum, either with or w/out power assist. An adjustable proportioning valve is highly recommended, too. HTH.
