I am not sure there is even a front sump truck pan :?: ...never heard of it.

I reason I say to use the rear sump is cuz you can buy it new easly as it also fits mustangs. (see the link in previous post)

I am in Kansas so there might be guys closer that can come over and help a little easier than me :D

You are welcome to email me any questions you do have, or just post here and we will all help you out!

Oh if you PM me that is better cuz I can write back at work.

Just a quick note, 6166 Junkyard Dog is correct when he listed the 460 applications. You could, depending on year, get a 460 in F100 F150 F250 and F350 2 wheel drive trucks, they were not restricted to just the heavier duty trucks. There is a truck specific 460 oil pan and it is a front sump. It was used on 73-79 2 wheel drive trucks and it is different from a car pan because they reloacted the drain plug. It still pours oil on the frame but hey, they tried! LOL 460 mounts are fairly common on eBay but be sure to buy a complete set as many times they are just selling the frame brackets and you will never find block plates by themselves. The trans crossmember you have will work fine with the swap but you may have to drill new holes to move it back (I did not have to but some guys have said they had to). I would be careful using a rear sump pan as they will interfere with the steering linkage on lowered trucks (and even on stock height sometimes with full suspension travel, ain't that right Bo Duke?). On the oil pan subject I have heard you can use a front sump out of a 2.5 ton truck that is a 9 quart pan. Anyone know if this is a fact.

Those big truck pans are not front sump, they are all sump! The sump runs from front to rear full depth!. They will work as long as you aren't bottoming suspension or lowering truck a bunch. They had the same style on the 361/391 and lots of guys use those on their 352/360/390's. Hawkrod
