both tires would look great with that wheel. The wide whites sure are sharp though. Love the wheels Cory

Thanks Mark! I'm leaning toward the wide whites, guess I'll see what my local tire store can do for me on price and compare the difference, if it's not a ton I may go that way.

I think those wide whites would make a nice statement. Those caps are old-timey, so I think I would choose the w-whites.

Question: Would stock slick bottle caps work on those Gennie wheels?

Can you get the wide whites through a tire store. I was under the impression that only Coker had them. Maybe the sell to retailers also?

I don't know about the bottle caps but if you take a picture with a ruler against the back side so I can see how wide the caps are I can do the same with the Ford caps I have and we should be able to tell? I'll go get mine photographed, I don't have a bottle cap or I'd just try them so someone else go photo the inside of the bottle cap.

As for the wide whites, BF Goodrich makes them so anyplace that sells BF Goodrich should be able to get them in, they are costy so I assume they don't stock them, you'd have to order them.

The bottle caps should fit the wheel unless you have twin-I-beam converted to disc brakes. The bottle caps are too shallow to fit over the hub for those. I used '56 Ford hubcaps on my 15x8's for that reason. I like those '42 hubcaps too, Cory.

Here is the measurements off mine. Looks like about 8 1/8" outside to outside and they are innie caps they snap inside the wheel center.

Cory, This is all very timely for me!, as I was hoping to use Bottle cap`s!,and mine are going on Falcon hub`s!, So!, can you measure how far it is from the mounting side of the rim to the inside of the cap, ie: to see if they will fit over my hubs!, thanks mate!

I will, as soon as I go pick up dinner for my wife's birthday. Just to make sure I understand, I measure from where the lug nuts seat to the inside of the cap to get the distance from the hub up to the cap? I don't have bottlecaps so it will be the 1942 Ford caps I'm measuring.

OK, if I did this wrong let me know. This is not to scale!!! And I appologize that it's a quick and dirty drawing and that we have to use the inferior method of standard measurement vs the much superior metric system, it's so much easier to figure in 10's in my head than 12's if only....

Anyway here is what I got, again not bottle caps but 42 Ford caps. Looks like 4 3/8" from the inside of the rim where it would touch the hub up to the inside highest point of the cap. I assumed you are looking for clearance for your hub?

That looks about right, Cory. If I remember correctly, the bottle caps measure about 1.25" deep from the cap mounting surface on the wheel. After I changed to the twin-I-beam disc brakes, the caps needed to be at least 1.75" deep, thus the bottle caps would not work on mine.
Alan, how far do your hubs stick out past the cap mounting surface on the wheel? I'm not familiar with the Falcon hubs....

Hey Alan,
Just wanted to clarify that the 1.75" figure I gave you was from the hubcap mounting surface on the rim to the end of the hub, not the distance from the wheel mounting surface on the rotor to the end of the hub. If you're at 2.5" from the rotor to end of dust cap, you're probably ok to use the bottle caps. I'll double check my measurements tomorrow.

Dude, those shipping prices kinda suck!!!

Is it possible to have a wheel shop take the centers out of your stock wheels and put them in a wider rim? That's what I did for a couple of mine. Just a thought....

Randy, the big problem with the wheel blokes here, is they read these forums and know how much to charge or should I say over charge!.
What I`m trying to do is, reduce the backspace on the front rims, so I can put a taller wheel on and clear the stub axle upper mount, and at the same time get innie rims, they are like Rocking horse farts down here! ( you might hear about them but you wont see one!). Baring all that!, I`ll have to go with stock rims with spacers and dress rims!, and I don`t want to!

Thanks, couldn't give up the old original wheels so once I get the new ones on I'm going to sand/sandblast the old wheels, give them a black paint job, and I ordered in some bullet lug nuts 1/2" thanks to you guys helping me identify the size, and some bullet caps.

Cheap way to freshen them up, think I'll paint them black so the chrome caps and lugs will stand out a little and give it a cleaner look.

This stuff is fun, really fun now that I have a big shop to do it in and not having to worry about getting stuff out to work and putting it back when done so you can still get in and out and use the garage and I'm not talking about small tools, I do put my tools away when complete, I'm talking like the truck or the jacks or the welder.

Having just dealt with this wheel deal the innie bottlecaps should fit the gennie wheels. Are these the 14 series wheels? I didnt know better and ordered the smoothies cause there cheaper. The ford innie caps dont fit the smoothies. My second set of wheels will be here tuesday.
