Yup! It runs off a PTO. The '61 originally had a green cab, so I am thinking of painting the cab green and the bed black.

Yes, the bed has "Ford" stamped on the back. According to O'Reilley's website, in 1961 the F350 was available with the 223 six, 262 six, 292 w/4bbl carb and the 332 w/2bbl carb. Since the engine in my F350 has a 2bbl , I thought that it would be a 332. Are the blocks the same so the intake and carbs are able to being changed? Or, is O'Reilley's info incorrect?

OK. so after searching the net for info, it seems that the 332 was a big block and the 292 a small block. Is this correct?

I'm definitely not an engine guy but wasn't a 332 a FE motor and a 292 a Y block. Pretty sure I've seen a few in late 50's cars. Some one more qualified will chime in shortly. BTW really cool truck too!

I am learning more everyday about the old F350s. Some parts are not nearly as easy to find as they are for F100s. Like the driveline parts, parking brake parts, etc.

I bet 6 lug spindles are hard to find, as are rims I guess. Good luck with it.

Guys on another thread I have here about the split rims are telling me that some of the junk yards may have solid six lug wheels from trucks that will work. I will start hitting the yards. That is always dangerous. Too many neat things to look at...

Wish we still had a yard to hit, we had a great one with bigger slicks in it, the crushed everything, sad.

Hate to pull up old thread but this one still baffling to me.

Saw this stake bed currently on ebay and it's exactly like a '66 F-250 I picked up early this year... Except mine has diamond plate metal flooring? I really believe now that these were produced from factory and not dealer. Notice the "FORD" lettering on the rear of bed in the 3'rd picture. And now the odds of 2 exactly alike on the same model? And miles apart... The bolts on mine have same amount of rust as rest of frame but there's no way to prove it...

I never got a good look at the bed that came off the '62 I had. Dude kept it when I bought it. I got the tail lights which match these. And the '66 I got has the sorta "Interstate Sign" shape to them that were an option. But all 3 were single wheel rear F-250's. The wheel base of my '66 and the '62 I had is same as long bed (mentioned above).

They are listed in the parts manuals with the Ford script at rear center.

AZJAKE, the engine shown in the pix of your tonner is not an FE, it's a Y block and if original would be a 292, the only Y still being produced by '61.
I am not an expert on this but it has been my understanding that the only V-8 you could get from '61 to '64 in the light duty trucks was the Y block.

Yes , that is correct. However it is NOT an FE in '61. It is a Lincoln/ big truck Y-block not originally available in one-tons. The 332 fe was a late 50's passenger car engine.
Yours does appear to be a 292, my '63 350 has a 2 bbl 292.

Could not find exactly what I was looking for, this copied out of James Wagners Ford book, notice the 120" wb and doesn't seem to mention 2WD's, looking at the top left caption, I tried to crop but I crapped out.




Just found this in 1965-66 Ford F100 & F 250 facts manual[ there was the same type wording for 100's using 6 1/2 foot platform or stake bodies

When I worked at the Kenworth dealer in Durham I had to put a stake bed on an Isuzu truck. On the rear of the bed in the center of the oval is was Ford in cursive. I had never seen that before or since.
