Truck rat,
Man if I wasn't a 55 year old X-Marine, no wait no such thing as a X-Marine! if I wasn't a 55 year old Marine I'd cry, them sure where some purdy words you where spreading there about me little darling Daisy!
But spoke to John and in his defense it sounds like he has his hands full making all of us happy so lets blame it on his Photograher! dude where are you?
maybe I didn't get her picture taken in Forth Worth for a reason, brought her home and didn't like the shine so I spent three weeks using 2000 on her and 4 different step pads, now she's really strutting her stuff.

Well that got me thinking, what is my first copy so I went and found it. This copy should be an eye opener for three reasons.
1. it shows the FI of the year and its blo%$y ugly.( IMO )
2. it has a brand X motor in it.
3.its got one of those bonnet scoops we all love!

There was only one 66 stepside slick ,but hey!
some real good article's on I beam axle sway bars, shortening 9" axles and
a couple of other tech tips, the later is what kept me buying CCT.
My December edition came without the calender also!
But if John will keep trying thats all we can ask!.
Thanks I`ll get out of your way now ,Alan,

Okay where do I start? First off, Greg: To tell you the truth I can't say if the Chevy guys are complaining or not about the Fords in CCT because I haven't spent much time on any of the Chevy forums. As far as what comes to me directly at CCT, I don't really get any complaints from the Ford or the Chevy guys. We used to get a rash of crap from the Dodge guys, but they seem to have died off.

I think I have the mix pretty much on the money, the magazine is up almost 14% from when I took over. I still get the occasional letter from a guy that we've pissed off. Today I got one from a guy that was mad because the January issue didn't have page numbers from 83 up. It was pretty funny actually, the guy really seems to hate me.

Now on to the CCT calendars. They were available in the newsstand editons only. Which makes sense when you figure a one-year subscription is only $15.00 and the calender issue is $5.99 US. I can see Ford guys not wanting to pay $2.00 for a Chevy calendar. It would be like a vegatarian getting some guy's hamburger accidently on an airline flight, or something.

Back to the forums. I'm on here and Y-Blocks Forever, that's it. I'm sure if I got on some of the other forums I bet I could find some more people that I've pissed off. So I think I'll kind of hold back on joining anything else for a while... Guess I could I use a fake name.

That's it for now, I'll talk to you guys later.

John Gilbert

Post by Truckrat »

 Well..............John Gilbert, you really had nothing to do with me being disappointed about Mike's Miss Daisy not being in the Goodguys section. Kind of difficult to be in several places at the same time isn't it. Man, you have a lot on your plate to try and assemble stories and tech articles and features every month. Are you a glutton for punishment? LOL! Seriously, the last thing I am going to do is send some whiney ass letter to you complaining about your magazine content. As I mentioned, 13 years of CCT so far and I think I still have all of 'em around here. Sizeable stack by now. I guess I may have to agree with Skip on building Mice. Ho Hum. I usually skip that part. NOW, A Y-block rebuild with some hop up goodies in it and on it, AM I GETTING WARM HERE? That 56 truck you had to hock your Harley and do the creative financing on, A Big Window!!! Seriously awesome score! I am so friggin' jealous! I have a 56, but not like that. Keep the mags coming, John, I look forward to them every month. TR

Thanks TR. Yeah, I miss my '05 Road Glide, and I'm getting real tired of paying my bills late, but that Raven Black '56 Big-Window sitting in my garage is better than having a deaf teenage blonde with a high center of gravity (Or at least from what I remember).

I've got to tell you, we are having an absolute ball putting this magazine out. I don't think they did a real good background check before they hired me. How could they have known I had 12 nasty old trucks, 5 mean dogs, and one good old lady?

Anyways enough said, talk to you later,

John

Oh yeah, I meant to mention that I didn't do such a hot job of keeping the balance of Ford and Chevy tech in the last couple of issues; we've been real top-heavy with the Chevy stuff, but relief is on the way. In the upcoming February issue I dropped an MSD dizzy in my '57 T-Bird 292 Y-Block motor and a set of RHS heads along with a Procharger on the 302 in my '72 F-100... Okay, now I'm done.

Hey guys, no offence to the "Brand only" types. I myself am a ford guy at heart, so I subscribed to Ol skool rodz and Kar kulture Deluxe, that way I can look at cars, trucks, fords, chevys, caddys, pontiacs, dodges, studebakers. and anything else that was built pre 1966. plus the Culture of the old days, Hot chics, Tattoos and greaser clubs ;) thats what I love about the hobby. I have many friends that are chevy owners and even more that are ALL MOPAR. we joke around about each others liking to ones make, but its all joking around. I Feel bad for the guys like Mr Gilbert, trying to please everyone. you do your best and its never good enough, lol

Hey Alan,

Expurgated... Holy crap, I had to look up what the word meant before I could reply. From what I could gather it means less words, yeah? But that doesn't make any sense because the January issue of CCT has 116-pages, the largest package size we've had in the last several months.

Please expand on your statement and I'll try to get you an answer. But I will take another guess before I sign off. Maybe someone's dog ate your copy before you got it, or maybe you guys down there have a flesh-eating virus that eats paper like Silverfish do here in California.

... Let me know.

G`Day John,
What I meant was the only part of the January edition I got was the piece of white paper with my name and address on it, now that's expurgated!!. Me thinks someone might of.........pinched it!, and sent the rest on to taunt me. Some people are cruel like that
Expurgated...means to leave out distasteful, irrelevant parts or modify the original works. but not to the point of non-existence!.
John I in no way hold you or CCT responsible for its demise, better a magazine than a set of dream beams lost in the post. :)

Oh that's different. Hell, I thought you were complaining about the size of our puny little magazine. No problem, we'll skip all the corporate crap and I'll mail a copy of January to you. email your mailing address to john.gillbert@sourceinterlink.com and I'll get on it.

So I was right, someone's dog ate it.

John,
That is a very kind offer and I appreciate the thought, but it is OK really!. I didn't bring it up to scam a copy, just thought it was on topic and strange that the addressing page made it here without a tear or mark on it. that has to be a dog with excellent table manners!. I tell you what John bring a copy to slick stock in august and I`ll read it then, thanks mate !
