wow. that's really cool.

wish somebody'd start a pot to get me and agatha there from Tucson.... I'm NOT countin on it though! Y'all probably hate me anyway!!!! haha i dont care!!!!

it's only 1342 miles each way.... only roughly $1000 round trip, including no motel..... ahaha damn that is a lot of cheese. kinda prohibitive on my budget....

OK. got another check in the mail today. Total to date= $530. Plus the expected secret benefactors match (yet to come) of $500. Couple promised checks still in the mail.

Gonna wait the weekend for those checks, then early next week I should be shipping Ice something like in the neighbourhood of $1100.

Stick around about 7-8 years, BA, someone might do something like this for you.
If Slickstock is 5000 miles away.

yeah I know. Different situation... I'm some punk kid that been around on and off a few years, and albeit I cant afford the trip, it aint no 5000 miles. (1342 miles each way)

SO I'm gonna assume, the "benefactor" is insisting on being anonymous... I've kinda been wondering who would be so kind as to match $500...... that's really awesome.

OH YEAH, and if I dont get to go this year, i will likely never get to meet the iceman.... haha too bad for me I guess.

aggie, never say never. i learned that a long time ago.

as to the "benefactor" all i am going to say is that there are some interesting circumstance and history involved in the situation. sometimes for whatever reason, you do somebody you do not even know a "solid" and then show them the door that leads to this group and things get better and a friendship develops. lately since this thread started i think about it every time i roll my window down in my slick.

Indeed. The "benefactor" is one of the most generous (obviously) men in this club, although it has been a long-standing tradition around here to help out others in this club with little "you can have it for shipping" or "need one, it's yours" type favours. This benefits both the club and your friendships within the club, and almost all those who have been here for a few years have gained from this give and take. I wonder if there are any long term members of this club who, for instance, a guy like Brian and also Garbz did not send a part to.

It went a bit farther between Brian and the secret benefactor. The need was greater, and the friendship stronger.
Brian has not met a great many of the members of this club, but has always been willing to trudge out to his parts bus in 3 feet of snow and look for a part. Or offer up some of his lifetime of experience in working on these jalopies. It's about time he met some of the people he did that for.

haha yeah I know. It's awesome that the bonds on this forum have gotten so strong. It's a wee bit plausible that I could make it but I'm gonna doubt it.
If I do decide I can make it, it's gonna cost me a bit of a wad, and I'm gonna have to check the date anyway, that alone might prohibit it.

OK boyz this is important. I WANT TO GET BRIAN HIS MONEY ASAP SO HE CAN GET HIS FLIGHTS BOOKED ETC.

So if I have not confirmed by email or PM that I got your check, and you have one in the mail, (besides the 2 from sunday's chat,) LET ME KNOW so i don't leave anything behind when I go to send Brian his cash.

Total @ approx $1150 with the latest latecomers...

I say approx, because I have a figure in mind that is MY kick in, but it is gonna vary with bank fees, paypal fees, and currency change from the Canadian guys that I have to absorb from mine....
