I'm curious as to whether or not any of your neighbors have made any comments on your "driveway project"?
If so, any comments you'd care to share as well as your return response to them........

I've had neighbors comment positively and others negatively to my driveway projects, but none were to the point that it hindered my project.

Before I started today, I saw two neighbors out in our cul-de-sac and apologized in advance for unsightliness. They didn't seem to care and said it wasn't a big deal because I always clean things up by the end of the day.

The good thing about the way my house sits is that you can't see much from the street because my house sits back so far. At least I won't get any crap from anyone when I want to build my 30'x30' detached 2-car garage.

This is the street view when I was pulling the front end and engine.

I'd say you're doing the right thing by keeping things picked up and not cluttered around outside your garage.

Glad to hear your neighbors are not having a cow about your Slick project.... sometimes the neighbors or the HOA will get their panties in a bunch with ol' ride projects!

The last of the driveway work "should" be done as of today. The truck is ready for the drive train to be put back in. I got the firewall painted today even though it only got to 55 degrees. As soon as I was done spraying, I got the truck back in the garage and put my dual set of halogen lights on it about 4 feet away. The paint cured really well but still needs more time.

My brother in law John made great progress cleaning up and degreasing the engine. I should have the engine and tranny back in it next weekend.

Plugs look pretty good.

I found the rebuild plate on the engine where the original owner had it rebuilt. I might contact them to see what was done (EDIT: Tacoma Engine - out of biz).

I'm getting ready to pull the intake and need to do a little searching to make sure I do it correctly.

I got the intake off. I was going to try to get it cleaned up tonight but I'm tired of scrubbing and scraping for the day. There is some nasty carbon on the bottom of the intake.

im afraid to look under mine! firewall came out real nice. It's never getting over 50 here again till April.

Nope, firewall was sprayed with Urethane enamel. It came out really nice. I'm tempted to paint the whole damn truck next year.

Is it STILL thanksgiving weekend?

Yes, but the guy that repainted it didn't do it that way. It was only about a third of the way and crooked. So now there is about a 1/4" of white overlapping to the firewall.

I am not sure I can do it. I love the truck. Emily gets her license in January. So I need to lighten the vehical load. Plus I need to get busy on my 66 project. The F250 satisfies my slick craving. So if I sell it maybe withdrawls will equal progress on the f100.

Mike's 65 was not a factory two tone truck. My brother in law painted it. He can do some good work, but lacks the extra 20% to make it great. I have had him paint, two trucks and a motorcycle. But I am done having him do work. Last truck I had him paint(not Mike's). I bought two stage Raggoon Red and Wimbleton White. Plenty of paint about 450.00 bucks worth. I stripped the dash pad off, cleaned the dash up real nice. Long story short he used some single stage white for the interior of the cab. I guess thinking it would not be noticed. Plus I had to stay all over him to get the truck back 3X the turnaround time he promised. Dealing with your wife's brother it is hard to handle it they way you would like to. So I doubt I will ever have him do work for me again or reccomend him.

There are some flaws but overall it is a nice looking paint job. I get compliments on the truck all the time. I'll probably repaint it in 5 years or so, but for now, it's a beauty of a driver.

I was talking to a guy at the gym today that buys and sells muscle cars for a living - well, not so much now as the market is down. He just sold one of two COPO Novas that he has for $128k. I told him I have no use for a car to sit in a garage and rub with a diaper. If I had $128k to blow on a car, I'd run the wheels off of it.

Great build BIGMIKE! I love Rangoon Red and White but that is my sec. favorite combo. I was just wandering, what is that BIG truck in the garage? Looks like a big FORD? Just wandering. LEE

Got the first bit of color on today. I stripped the oil pan and didn't want it to rust. Primed and painted it with the first two coats. I'll hit it again when I install it and paint the engine.

Tomorrow I'll get the engine back together and finish up the last 10% of cleaning it.

The work has slowed down or rather my body has. Yesterday I got the intake manifold on which wasn't an easy task, but it is right and should not leak.

Today I got the timing cover cleaned up and completed cleaning the block. The timing cover and oil pan are both on with a very good seals. The oil pan gasket is a composite gasket so hopefully it will last many years without leaking. I got the same type of gaskets for the valve covers.

(Milodon's rugged Crushproof Premium oil pan gaskets can be used with gasoline, alcohol, and race fuels. They won't crush, split, shrink, or squeeze out like other gaskets. What's more, Milodon says you couldn't tear them, even if you tried.)

The engine is now fully prepped and ready for paint. I'm going to wait until Tuesday to paint it though since it will be in the low 60's.

Tomorrow I'm going to get the brake booster and master cylinder back on the truck. Then I'm going to bend/install new brake lines down to the proportioning valve and bleed the brakes.

Lee, I'd bet that's a wheel shot of Michelles' N
