Come on guys,
A few bolt ons won't kill the truck, won't even make it look different on the outside.
Enough work and even a top chop is reversible - jus sayin.
I wouldn't hesitate for a minute if it were me.
Chris - I'm with you!
Have fun with her......................
After all, the mods Chris are discussing are pretty tame compared to what the last owner of that truck wanted to do with it.

IMO if you spen the cash to drop in the 302 it will not increase the value, maybe increase disirability, but not value, so that is more money down the drain.

I vote for picking up a second Slick/Galaxie/Falcon/Ranchero, tear it down to its undies and start from there.

That will keep you busy.

I love 65 Galaxies.

Should have chimed in sooner. Chris, do what makes you happy. I know you would never do anything that would deface, devalue or dishonor that sweet ride. I like big blocks btw 8)

value is not the worry. the 302 is already owned. i even have a small bell c6. it would be a cheap REVERSIBLE driver mod. i have actually stopped thinking about lowering it. i want it to look completely stock, with a little v8 rumble. i am going to mod the 240 first to see if that will sate my discord. if not, i dunno.

nice....sounds healthy, but i still like the sound of a 302 HO with Flow Masters. :)

I can see a 300 six running good, and probably having more torque than a stock 302 roller motor, however, how much does a intake manifold cost, cam, headers, carb, head cost compared to a simular 302? just curious.

I am not saying a 6cylinder cant run well....just look at a BMW 6, a Nissan 6 or even some higher end porches (however you spell it). They do haul the mail...and quite easily... and I am curious if anyone had modified the EFI 300 6 with maybe a supercharger, or turbo charger, larger injectors, larger throtlebody, mass air meter etc... and what kinda horsepower that would put out?

If you sent your Truck out to a restoration shop, you did NOT build it, jus sayin!

Cam's not too expensive, getting the right cam timing takes a little trial and error. (That info is probably easily obtained these days), head is definitely a weak spot, grab the RotoRooter and some valve train. Factory intake with serious pn'p would probably do fine with a 75 mm t/b. Holset HY35 for simplicity, later variable if one could afford the electronics to support it. Custom fabbed header w/ 3.5 exhaust, an intercooler disguised as a grille  A good piggy-back or stand-alone controller, speed density to keep things simple, E85 and 19-20 psi.
Cost? Complications? Power per cubic dollar? Oh, well just put a 393 (or 547) in it and go.
