wow that is different. LOL can't get the Ford gals in that one.

I wouldn't bother with the tailgate replacement,mine is like that, no one will notice.
61-62 grille is steel, either painted or chrome, not aluminum. 61 Merc is hard to find, has the letters in the grille..

I think that tail gate looks terrible!!! Send it to me and you will feel much better.

I lie, everthing looks great!!!!! You posted pics of a crew with a fridge box quite a while back. That's the same truck, right??

Shiny that truck looks sweet, you have a ton of time on your hands for sure, how many weeks has it been now from start to finish? I have been watching without replying so I wouldnt have 10-20 replys in my mail box every day when I get home lol now thats its almost completed ill throw in my compliments on a nice job

As fast as ya are you could come down here and finish mine "one day" rofl I like the Rake on that truck too.
I dont know how you guys do it with making it around town with them so low. here the roads arent that great for lowered pickups

I have an aluminum 62 grill (not for sale). I have also seen a chrome one, mid year change? By Greg D

I've seen aluminum ones too, but didn't have a screwdriver and it was too light out

Just lookin round right now to see what springs I can put in the front of this thing that are a lil stiffer. Anyone know of any?

jwh, yes its the truck. I got it about a year ago and just started on it about a month ago.
Funny thing about the tailgate, I went to get this one, we took it off of his truck hes parting out. I leave and go up the road in the other direction, and what do I spot??? A 64-66 MERCURY gate on his dads '78 ford POS driver!!!! It was/is mint.

Wow that is too bad. Would love to get a merc tailgate. If nothing else just to make people scratch there heads. I told my father I would like to put a merc tailgate on my truck. He looked at me like I had two heads. He was not even aware the mercury trucks existed.

He actually argued with me for a minute. You would think of all people a "Cougar" guy with a bunch of old vehicles would be aware of the mercury truck.

New springs are very affordable. Racing springs are $50-$75 , and come in many heights and weights. Those springs are usually linear, but they also come in progressive rates. There are also adjustable spring perches for fine tuning ride height.

It'd be funny if you ended up with a nice '61 Ford grill. Then people would say "Oh its a Ford" from the front and "Oh its a Mercury" from the back!

Lefty, I just got air bags for it!

Matt, If I get a ford grill I'll put MERC in it!

Been driving the truck everyday now, cruises awesome. Have a few lil things to do. Nothing major.
Gonna bag it and mount a EDC on it later. I'll just run Shrader valves for now, too much other stuff to do around my place.

Shiny, thats badass and sits just like my 64. When my Krewl Kab is done it will sit just like it but I am with ya, mine will have Bags also ( and not my X wife in the bed) so I can drive it. Whats the plans for wheels? or ya gunna leave the stockers? I have 14X7"s on the 64 and it rubs the fender opening so plan is to go with my original 1967 Torque Thrusts on the 64 because the fronts are 6.5" and will turn easier.

found a MERC tailgate locally for a gooder deal, its a later one but I'll replace it with an older one soon enough.

Drives really gooder! Can't believe how good it handles too!

Theres still a few things to do on it but nothing major.
I borrowed the nose from a buddy and will replace it, I'm just puttin together a nice one for it.

thanks to all for the kind words tough being the new guy any way the wheels are boyd coddingtons magnetos 17x7 up front w/225-50-17 and 17x8 w/275-60-17 out back has flipped axle w/overload bags has a built 302 w c6 and 355 posi 9"
have towed my 27 foot travel trailer and numerous other cars on my flatbed trailer ill try and put some pictures of the build on and also my 55 build. hey 65tremecgt might need your help with that. thanks again
