Front end is a 73. I-Beams and Radius arms are forged (74 and up are stamped). Calipers are on front of rotors and are Dayton Dual caliper.
This front end carries the large king pins (1 1/16 I think). I think the GVW on the donor was 8100. The lighter trucks had smaller king pins and calipers. I did this exact swap on a 65 (drove it for 10 years then sold it). It is a direct bolt in. You will have to use the 65-66 springs or cut the 73's. You will have to swap in a dual chamber master cylinder and add a proportioning valve (get these from the donor). You can run into problems with missmatched brake parts. If they all come from the same truck you will have the correct proportioning , metering and residual pressure valves.
Hope this helps!

I am doing the swap right now. 1971 F250 to a 1965 F250. Spindles are a direct bolt on. I like the Dayton Dual calipers. I'm just waiting on a few parts to finish it up.Blackwaterforge wrote:Front end is a 73. I-Beams and Radius arms are forged (74 and up are stamped). My 65 is very close to the Blast from the Past Camper Special. Mine has three gas tanks also. When I had the truck painted I had newer gas lids put on. I did not like the orignal aftermarket ones. (Mine is not a CS)
I have the 352 (with headers and dual exhaust) I get about 12mpg. 410 rearend. The headers and exhaust really helped the way the truck ran and boosted 2mpg. Mine is Granny 4spd)
The tires are 30" tall. That helps I can cruise 70mph no problem.

I was at the 75th Anniversary of the duece in Victoria, BC, 2007. There were over 400 '32 Fords there. The best car show I've ever been to bar none. There were many "A #1, first class" cars there including a B400 and pheaton, and every other bodystyle offered in '32. IMO, your car with that cammer would have been the best car there. Absolutely Outstanding! You are a lucky man.

If I remember right, the Contemporary is supposed to be closer to the original than alot of the others?BackyardResto wrote:THE S/C is a contemporary. The Mercury is actually a R code Capri (1967) (8v SideOIler) 4spd 1 of 6 built.
Do you have more pics of the Capri? I love to see them, I LOVE Comets. I had a 65 2 door post, was going to end up as a A/FX street car. That project got traded for a Grabber Blue 71 Torino GT though. 1 of 6, WOW. The grill really through me on it, I looked again and see the 66-67 body. I had a beater 67 289 comet too, had the pointed nose though like a Montego that year. The 65 style front clip I take it was on the Capri only. Were there no R codes of that car too? I don't think I have ever seen one.

What if you used the '66 gate on the F250, since it's a drivable truck, then continued the search for another clean gate for the red truck? It's just my opinion here, but to me, Bumpside gates stick out like a sore thumb on a Slick.
Regardless, either choice would certainly look better than the big dent in the F250's current gate.
