Slick 60's

Guys, it's been quite a while. But Saturday, 3/28/15 I fired up the 351C. I got the oil pump primed, gas siphoned to the pump, and filled the float bowls with gas too. My friend, who was there for support, was very startled when the thing lit up the instant I hit the key! It's pretty loud with purple hornies and side exits in front of the rear tires.

Now I am working on sanding and painting the door jams and the door edges. I've got new seals and I have found a place to install the windshield for $220 - that includes the glass, but I'm providing the gasket. Windshield is $150, so $70 to install it???? Hell yeah!

So, doors, windshield, then front end sheetmetal and I can drive it!

And the weather there should be getting good enough to take it for a drive.

Yes the weather is really decent here. I got one door jam painted and one door edge sanded. Also adjusted the neutral safety switch on my Lokar shifter.

I should get the rubber stuff in the mail tomorrow and schedule the windshield.

Those bed patches came from the rust-free zone of the arctic circle!

I have some left over. I wonder if I can get a rebate??

I got a new windshield Tuesday. I had a glass place do the install. It was worth it, to me.

Today was highly productive. I started by putting on the new hood to cowl seal.

I hung the right door - the jambs and opening was painted and a new door seal put on. Before I removed the doors, I drilled a small hole through the hinges into the jamb to help alignment when putting them back on.





I then painted the left door opening.





Then I glued the left door weatherstrip on. I learned to run masking tape along the outside edge to keep from making a total mess with the 3M Super Black adhesive. I saw a rep. from Steel Rubber on My Classic Car demonstrate how to apply the cement. Spread out a small bead on both parts, let get tacky, then spread another small bead on the rubber and you better have in in the right place!!

Nice work on the Uni and thanks for taking the time to document your saga. One question (and I hope I just didn't miss it in reading). What did you use for the front sway bar?

Fortyboy, sorry I have not checked this in a while.......

I think the front sway bar is from a mid-seventies Ford truck. I got the sway bar info (including the rear - which is from some sports car I think) from a post on this site.
