Looks like a very good example of the way the were. Would not have thought that it would bring that kind of money. Now everyone will think they have BJ quality & price.

do you think it got the price it got because of who was running the auction????? I just can't see $31,900 for an original looking slick. just my

B-J is not a realistic indicator of automotive values. It's a pissing contest between doctors and lawyers, with the odd drug dealer sneaking in now and then. More money than self-control!

i watched it for about an hour and thought the vehicles were bringing less
than what i have seen in the past...wish i would have seen that one.

One thing we have to remember - that was a near or perfect amazingly low mile truck. Time capsules like that can bring good $ no matter what they are.

Sheesh! Think about that, though. $31,000!!! I mean, what the firetruck?
Was watching a little B-J this afternoon matter of fact. I thought prices came down too, but Nooooooo.

It is hard to put a price tag on an original extra low mileage pickup that has been garaged all its life. This truck is well documented and is in the condition serious collectors are looking for. Remember its only original once. I have always felt super clean original pickups have been long undervalued when compared to other 2 doors of the same vintage.

Being someone who has built and sold cars at auctions, for myself and others selling a few at BJ but mostly Kruse-Leake auctions,Ive noticed that ever since Speed started televising them, they have started hurting the collector car hobby, now everybody thinks what they have is worth a fortune, every year it seems to get worse,I stopped and asked about a 51 F1 sitting in a field a few weeks ago, walked up to the travel trailer the guy lived in ,asked about it and he told me hold on while he checked what they were selling for on Ebay and Barret-Jackson,came back a few minutes later and had to have $4500.00 for it,it was an $800-1200 truck!
I hope it dosent affect our trucks like that. Besides the body lines the main reason I enjoy them is they were never main stream and kinda rare to see them on the road,it's nice to see them come into their own but I still want to keep it affordable for the hardcore slick community to enjoy.

Was it common to have a passenger door mirror but none on the driver side?

i wouldnt spend that kind of money on that truck. i would rather have my truck and $15,000 in disposable cash to spend on it. ive gone with and sat with the ron pratt group at barrett jackson and ive seen him spend millions in just a few hours on vehicles. that 31 grand wont effect our prices. thats a collector most likely buying a museum piece that wont ever see the road

I had a big smile on my face while watching this truck on auction...one of the guys describing/giving information about the truck did a pretty good job up until he said "and 1966 was also the first year for the 352 ci V-8"

Agree with you 63 bigwindow. In the 60s it was the Harrah museum group that almost single-handedly
killed the antique restoration hobby for the everyday guy. They had buyers roaming the country
buying cars & parts at high prices. Then everyone else thought their stuff was gold.Little guy couldn't
afford it anymore.

I thought that was a bit odd as well.....
Another interesting "touch" is that it also appears to me that it does NOT have the zippered "map pockets" in the lower, inner door panels as most '66 F100 Custom Cab interiors do.

I would say there aren't many pickup experts in the high end auction world. As usual, buyer beware!

Went for $31,900. A real bargain for a deep pocket collector.
If you tried to have your slick restored to the condition of the one at B-J with nos oem parts you would soon see that an original very very low milage truck at 31,900 was a bargain. Also don't forget that it is a museum piece that will never see the light of day.

Tom, from the picture it looks like it is just the standard radio not the push button type as listed.
