Engine for my 66 F100

I am trying to decide on what engine and transmission combo to run in my 66. It is some what of a mild custom. Originally a 352/ 3 speed manual, Rangoon & Wimbledon White custom Cab.
I am going to have a brighter red, Ford Canyon red. Disc brake swap, dual MC, later model heavy half ton overload springs. Some sort of an automatic transmission, underdash A/C, Hopefully hidden turn signals up front, the 63-64 CC door handles, Bronco gauge cluster, tach and vacuum gauge. I'll probably have a few other things not stock as well, just not sure what they will be.
Trying to decide what to use for a powertrain in the 66. I just pulled a 91 T-bird 5.0 & AOD. Currently I have a 360 with a 2 barrel intake (no carb on it yet) and a C6 in it, still missing the right torque converter to make it move. I bought the 360 of craigslist, was told it ran, but it has sat for about 18 months or more. The C6 I got from a friend, who got it from a friend. Was told it runs, but had a milkshake in it, so needs flushed and maybe then it will work.
I have a 351W/4V/AOd in my 71. I would kind of like to put this in the 66, and get the 5.0 EFI in the 71. 71 was supposed to be my daily, but has had vibration problems that I have not been able to track down.
If this was a perfect world, I'd get the 351 running good in the 66, the 5.0 in the 71, and someone would buy the 360. Might be a pipe dream.
I plan on keeping the 71 indefinitely. I so much $ in it, I'd never get it back. Plus I like it. The 66 would probably be the one that would get sold if it came to that. It isn't stock, but isn't radical either.

Well dot, since you don't have a six cylinder listed, (I'm a I-6 fan myself) I think your plan of attack is the way to go. Put the 5.0 in the one you plan to keep and put the running Windsor in the one your playing with. Should be able to make the Windsor look good and sound good for little bucks.

No 6's in the engine choices, just listing what I have on hand.
Thanks.

What? No 514 Stroker in the list?
Well in that case I'd go with the 351W/AOD.
I had the same set up in my 72 Shorty with a mild towing cam.

Max, Looks good, I appreciate the photos. My truck is about as stripped as yours at this point. Your frame looks nicer, I probably need to give it a bit more attention
But after messing with the serpentine setup today on the 5.0 I'm not sure how much I like those right now. Pulleys covering up mounting bolts, what seems like a mix of metric & SAE fasteners, it took me 3 hours to strip the accesories off. Well, I was BS'ing with a friend during some of that, but still took a lot of head scratching and time.

Yea, this motor came from a Mustang and had the factory serpentine setup already but after taking the whole thing apart for machine work, I really didn't like what seemed to be 250 lbs. of the metal Ford brackets that held everything on.
I'm not after much bling on my truck, but just couldn't get past how clean and simple some of the aftermarket serpentine/pulley setups look.
So, that's what I had determined on my end anyways and am very happy with the way it looks now.
Good luck!

Despite the poll results I think I am going to try to take a shot at using the FE & C6 combo. Actually, I started out thinking I'd go with the 351, but the more I thought about it this past week, the more I think this truck needs an FE.
I had the 360/C6 for sale for 6 months or so, on several forums & craigslist, but the 360 is not a sought after engine, people prefer the 352 & the 390 & up engines. Maybe I should have advertised it as a bored ought 352?

Actually, I never did find a date code or any markings on the block. Could be a 352. I doubt it is a 390, but I need to do the wire through the spark plug and measure the stroke just incase.
Anyhow, I think I'll give it a shot, if it doesn't work I have the 351 to fall back on. If it does work, I can probably sell the 351W and AOD fairly easy and for a better price.

Tim, why don't you freshen up the 360 to a 390? If it is indeed a 360, all you need to do is add in a 390 crank, rods and pistons.
A 360 is a 390 sleeved block with a 352 crank, but 360 pistons. (I think the rods are 352, but I am not sure.)
The heads are the same, too.

Out of the ones listed the 5.0 would be my pick.
But if I had my pick it would be a 4BT, after that I am kind of partial to my 6.

I picked the FI 302 but If it was me I would FI the 351 and use the AOD...
You can use the FI system from the 302 for the 351 after all the 351 is a close cousin to the 302... Just small program change on computer (that is if it is a MASS system)....

I had thought about that, but the 360 is supposedly a runner as is. So, not wanting to tear into it at this time.
Of course I just got an email on craigslist on the 360, so if that goes anywhere it might wind up being the 351 or 5.0 after all.

Take a look at the crank flange and if it has a square notch in it it should be a 390. other wise pull the pan and check the casting number on a crank throw and that will tell you what it is. I don't know off hand what the number on a 390 crank is but any machine shop can tell you.
