Hopefully somebody will know the answer....what is the stock jet size on a Motorcraft 2-barrel? I rebuilt my carb last weekend and the jets are 44's. She runs great...just rich.

I'm having alot of carb issues myself, but what I've learned is that it depends alot on the application, IE engine, vehicle.
What do you have?

292 in a '64 w/ 3 speed. Engine runs excellent. Exhaust smell will knock you down!

I am just going on memory but I believe that the carb of our 63 had 44s also, it was back in the summer when the carb was rebuilt. You sure the float level is correct?

You have air bleeds plugged or something in the booster assy. is plugged.
I just went through alot of that. Mine wouldn't idle and ran WAY too rich off idle and above.
I worked on it for hours to ensure every passage was clear. I doubt it's your jet size.

Good luck.

OK, thak clinches it. I figured whoever rebuilt the engine back in '86 had mucked with the jets for a little "more power". 2 confirmations that 44 is the right jet size. Scottrod, I went through the carb last sat, and as you said, painstakingly cleaned and re-cleaned the passages. Obsa, according to toe info in the carb kit, '64 wants 15/32 float level, all others want 21/32, so I set @ 15/32.

Maybe it's just not good to breathe exhaust fumes?

Thanks everybody!
