Tank in bed mounting?

Post by Brian Taylor »

I am temporarily going to run my tank in the bed. I am going to convert to an under truck tank later. With my funds maybe really later. I would like to see how others have there tank secured.
I think a bracket from the front bed lip to the top of the tank and then just a ccouple of small L brackets to hold the base but I would like to see options.

I realize that it might be somewhat more expensive, but I just installed a fuel cell in my pickup for under $275, including all lines, a fuel cell from jegs and a cool boat tank filler. I posted some pictures about it in my profile. Skip has done many articles in the past, and I should have taken his advice a long time ago. I know it may be a bit more expensive, but it will be so much easier in the long run to do it the way you want it the first time.

If you want I have that Bronco II tank sitting out back. You would have to get a Sending unit for it and some straps (AZ has straps for $22ish) or make your own. I just bought a new tank from ebay ($78 shipped) so your more than welcome to that old tank I have. We could always find a sending unit from the bone yard along with the filler hose and you could just route the filler to the wheel well.

Let me know we could do the conversion in a couple hours at my shop. :D

Thanks for the ideas for later,
I can not afford a tank and the mods needed for such. But I will work out a few temporary attachment points for the tank in the bed.

Why not just leave it till you can move it underneath the bed?

x3. It ain't broke why fix it? If your tank is leaking you can seal it with the stuff from Eastwood. Other wise leave it be.
