Does anyone have an automatic steering column for a 64? My F100 has a three on the tree and I just put in an auto trans. No power steering. Or does anyone know if the column I have can be converted?

I have one out of a 65 not sure if you can make it work or not as the mounting is different

I have an auto column for my '64 that I got out of another '64 but they're rare. Had to buy Falcon, Fairlane and Truck replacement parts to complete it.

What automatic?
you need to change the gate for the shifter in the column to run a C4 or C6.

Guys, I wish you could have seen Max removing the steering column from that truck.
There we were, in central Texas in the middle of no where.
Surrounded by old cars and trucks when I spotted the donor.
It had a tree growing in the middle of the bed and was covered in briars and surrounded by fire ant mounds.
The yard owner had to use a huge fork lift truck to raise the rear of the truck so it was nearly vertical so Max could get under it and take the stuff out.
Talk about a Hungarian cluster F^<k.
But by the end of the day there he was, sitting in the corner, completely covered in dirt and grease, a little bleary eyed and worse for the wear and tear, with his new automatic steering column.
After we scrubbed him down enough to allow him inside the truck, we all headed back to Houston with his steering column and lots of other goodies.
Ah, the good old days....

I might be able to help - sort of - I've got a 63 that came with a 3 on the tree, but later was changed to an auto. The column is an auto, but the stick & the indicator are gone. ND told me the "column" is really just the tube, and that the shaft & box are the same for all. I won't need it, so let me know if you're at all interested.

Thanks Garbz, I do have a C4 and Lokar makes a cable that will work with an automatic column.
Rusty63, I am not sure the 63 will bolt up the the collar but it sounds like an option if I dont have a better one. Thanks

I don't think the Lokar cable will work for our column. I thought it was for a GM column and C4/C6 transmission.
I have the cable shifter kit for mine but it's made by Iditit and made for a Ford column and C4/C6 transmission.

I "used" a lokar lnkage and kickdown kit for my 65 with C4. I had to heavily modify both to make them work. Perhaps better than staring with nothing, but not much....
On the otherhand, I don't think you could get a 64 with a C4 or C6 anyhow, so finding stock original would seem to be impossible.
