Stainless Steel Exhaust for 223ci 1961 F250 Unibody?

Post by olliesshop »

I'm restoring my 1961 Uni that's been in the family since new. I'd like to put stainless steel exhaust on it, but I've looked in all the catalogs/internet sites I could find to no avail. Anyone know of a source for stainless steel exhaust for the 1961 223ci F250. I'd like something that replaces the stock system, with little tear up if possible.

Thanks for any help.

Nice idea.
Expensive, but nice.
You'll need to find a good muffler shop and see if they have or can get the stainless pipes.
Or have them estimate what you're going to need and get it from someone like Jeg's.
They do have an upgraded aluninized muffler pipe that lasts at least 4 times what the regular cheap ones do.
You might consider that, cheaper than stainless for sure.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

Thanks for the help / alternatives. I was thinking there might be an existing kit out there, like for other cars I've restored. The aluminized version also sounds like a good idea.

Thanks again :D

Worst comes to worst you may be able to have a steel one ceramic coated. I bought one from Mac's years ago for a 64 with a 223, the fit was perfect.

Typical shop build of a stainless system will run well over $1500 if it is fitted and TIG welded. Mandrel bending on the stainless can be tricky and most shops may not attempt it.

Speedway and others sell 304 tubing and u bends. Be prepared for the cost.

Mandrel bent thick wall aluminized tubing has lasted 25 years on my motorhome and still looks pretty good. I also used a heavy duty welded truck muffler from walker.
It has a low rumble loud idle but quiets down once you start turning a few more RPMs.

Potential solution with Waldron's Anitique Exhaust

Post by olliesshop »

I mentioned this to a friend of mine and he mentioned this place ... http://waldronexhaust.com. It looks like they have an exhaust system for just about everything.

Specifically this one looks like it will work for my Unibody ... http://waldronexhaust.com/shop/product_ ... ts_id=3754 for $440, which doesn't seem that bad for stainless.

Hope this helps.
