As no 65 f 250 ever had power steering from the factory it is possibly why they look at you like a deer in the headlights.
You need to pull the part number off the main body and that will tell what year at least it was introduced and go from there.
Is it bendix 66 to 68.5 or a ford box 68.5 to 79?

After a day scrubbing in solvent I found a bent up tag and gave it a acid bath. The numbers are HCE-G it came from a 67 F 250 Bendix gear.
I found one on line for $59.95 from classic auto parts.

If anyone knows of a cheaper one please let me know.
