Slick 60's

So I'm planing on sending out my wheels in the next week or so... to be powder coated what they call eggshell white. I was thinking why not send my front bumper and grill at the same so everything matches? Is there any reason why I would not want to powder coat the grill and bumper, other than cost?

No. Actualy that would be my prefered method.

You need to think about road rash and how you will touch it up, or if you will need to.

I have don this as well in the past with customer cars. To save cost we only have the front coated as no one see's the rear. On the rear we either paint or undercoat. We do this with chrome as well and cuts the cost in half, If I were doing the wheel's I would do just tha front as well.

I hadn't really thought about only PC'ing the front of things such as wheels and grill. How much would you estimate it saves? My PC'er is pretty reasonable. $60 to media blast and PC four wheels.

@ $50 a wheel I would buy the stuff to do it myself!
$20 for used oven
$100 for Gun and paint from eastwoods
$60 for blaster and media from harbor freight

Then I would have all the tools to do more!

thanks guys for the input. I got a guy that will do the wheels for $30 each, blasted and powder coated.

Our local powdercoater charges by area. $125 for whatever you can lay in a 10' x 10' area. I think its real cheap and he'll do both sides for that. He only charged me $75 to ceramic coat my headers. Pretty cheap. I don't know how he stays in business.

For that price I would be taking him stuff every week!

Sounds like quite a deal. Maybe he's like the car dealer who looses money on every deal, but makes it up in volume

Thats what Learjet does on the M40!

doing powder coating will at least take up from beating the death your grill/bumper from Road Trash,, Road Kill etc......

Not all powdercoating is created equal. Be sure you specify what mil-thickness you expect to get back. The stuff they put on iron fences and the like is alot thinner than what you want on your parts. Just knowing that you need to ask them should be enough to help you get what you want.
