Am I the only one who has this problem?

Last week went to NAPA to get my upper shackle bushings so i can hang the axle & springs. They of course didn't have the in stock and had to bring them in from Denver. They were going to charge me $6.00 shipping for a store to store transfer (they were also $2 higher each than LMC). NONE of the other parts stores charge for transfers so I was kinda pissed about it. I came home and ordered them from LMC.
LMC I find out is going to be out of the bushings for another 4 weeks or so (it's already been a week and a half). So I won't see them for about 5 more weeks.
I checked everywhere trying to find them - either can't get them or I have to buy a whole shackle kit ($63 vs $20). So as much as I didn't want to I ended up back at NAPA just because they can get them. I then had to find them in the parts book for the guy. He tells me 3-4 days, then he says next Tuesday which if I count right is 8 days? So I ask him which is it? He says,"They have the order right now - probably Friday if they ship them today."
This is all pretty pathetic.

That is tacky to charge shipping for something they have in stock at a warehouse that can come with a regular order. I think Napa are getting to be too proud of their stuff. The turn signal switch I got for my truck last year was about $20 less from Melvin's, and it was a Ford part (or an excellent repro with the Ford part number on it).

so did you ask Tom @ flashback f100 ?
if you are talking about the very small ones in the frame, i currently only have 1 new one and need another or cut the piece off another frame i got last year that already has new ones.
i bought a whole bunch of bushings on e-bay years ago and there was only one of those in the lot.

I hear ya man. Its gettin harder and harder to get parts for these ol trucks. Remember when parts were readily available, and CHEAP? I paid $84.00 for rt and lt tierod ends last week at Oriley's

If that wasnt bad enough, they wanted $46.00 each for front wheel cyls. I settled for the $4.00 rebuild kits

Since we're talking about suppliers, Mac's has a new website starting today and is much easier to navigate and find parts. I've bought a good share of stuff from them and have never had a problem.

The whole point of getting them from LMC is that they are the closest ie quickest shipping.
I am to a large extent on hold til I can get the axle back under it. I will be ordering the rest of the stuff I need from Tom because I know for a fact that he only carries the best quality.
I'll be PMing Tom to get a phone # so I can just call him to place orders.

Rock auto is FAST! I got a bunch of stuff from them and it arrived quicker than I could believe. 800 miles in 36 hrs and it was on my porch.

I love it

Another satisfied NAPA customer. Greg, this reinforces my feelings on NEVER buying parts there again after my flex plate nightmare.

I thought that those things only happened to me. I hope it all works out right in the end.

I hope they are here Friday. I want to get the front axle in it so I can swap out the rear - been waiting 2 weeks now to do this.

I have never heard of charging shipping for a store transfer but I already wasn't a fan of NAPA. I always had better luck with O'Rielly's. Rock Auto is good to, got my fuel pump from them quick. Haven't tried Tom's yet but will in the future. Sorry about your bad luck Greg

I just got my Macs catalog today. Boy do they have a lot of stuff! Some I haven't been able to find even in Obsolete Ford or Concourse or LMC. Great!

hey what happened with your flex plate??? Reason I ask is a few weekes ago i went there with mine and this guy had to get shipped froma nother store...come next week i went back and this woman who didnt give 2 sh*ts i was there gave it to me and it didnt look like it lined up and this woman just would not help and she kept talking to another woman about some raffle the whole time. I just threw it back on the counter and walked out...never again there....ill go to another NAPA just never there...anyway ordered one off of summit and it matched perfect...

my worst NAPA experience:
i needed a 302 timing chain /gears
i never leave the store without opening the box and inspecting the contents
the gears and chain all came in separate boxes
the top gear was in the wrong box with the right part # on the end of the box
i called this to the attention of the salesman who looked it up again, showing me the matching numbers.
i told him this did not matter it was not the correct gear and asked him to get another off the shelf.
he continued to argue until i asked to see the manager.
after another 1/2 hour of argument he finally went and got another box which we opened to find the correct gear.
then i got a bunch of comments about how i could tell the difference
i showed them the numbers cast into the gear, and told them i remembered the # from the gear still in my car which was the same on the correct gear in the box while the wrong one had a different number.
its not rocket science.
pretty sure they put the wrong gear back in the wrong box and back on the shelf , it at least appeared that way to me.
then they began to question if the gear i wanted was correct or not.
i said it was and that i had wasted enough time, a full hour on a 5 minute or less transaction.
they still were having a hard time with the gear being in the wrong box.
willing to bet some poor guy ended up buying that wrong gear got home and had to then later return it.

I had the same problem at O'Reillys but with a throw out bearing. The manager sold me the wrong part and I did not catch it until the bearing failed.I was not happy to say the least and the best part was the a## of a manager did nothing to solve the problem. He in fact made it worse. That was 10 years ago and i have not set foot in another O'reillys since.
