whats it worth
I have a 1966 f-100 4x4 shortbed. It came with a fleet side bed but now has a stepside bed on it. It came with a 300 6cyl. engine but now has a 390 v-8. The original transmission ( 4spd ) and transfer case ( single spd ) are in it still. What would be a good asking price for this. I have several projects and this one is as close to original. I could put a 300 6cyl. engine back in it and a fleet side bed on it to bring it back to stock for very little money. I would appreciate any input. The body is in excellent condition, could use a paint job. I would like to try for $5000.00.

66 was the first year for the coil spring front end on the f100 4x4.
most i have seen are long wheelbase.
short 4x4 were kind of rare , with either bed or engine.
if it was in good running condition and no real rust $5k is not out of the question.

The 66 F100 4x4s are really cool, as they have the matching bed unlike most of the factory 4x4's, I have seen one factory shorty 4x4 but couldnt tell you what engine it had. Nice truck for sure, and since its a 390 in it now, i dont think that you will chase to many buyers off, especially if you offer the 300 with it. I agree with Ice, rust free and running/functioning fine, $5k is prolly the high end, but im such a cheapskate im not one to ask!

the f100 4x4 was all new frame/axle in 66.
129 " lwb. 115 swb.
radius arm/coil spring suspension, open knuckle d44 front/9" rear
married single speed transfer case. 2/4 H no low range.
matching bed styleside/flareside.
it is the only factory slick 4x4 that uses the 65/66 2wd cab.
the bronco was the other all new 4x4 from ford that year
