Old car paradise

I recently moved to San Francisco, rented an 1100 sq ft apartment for only $2800 a month, and left the fleet behind in Texas.
The cars around here are amazing. I guess it's because unlike Texas, you can actually own and drive a car that is not equipped with A/C!
I have seen so many mid 60's to late 70's Datsun, Toyota, VW, Opel, TVR, Jensens, Peugeot, etc. These look to be daily drivers, I see them all the time on the streets here.
My neighbor has a mint 1976 Toyota Celica Liftback, the car I wanted so much when i was in high school.
But for every cool, stock car I see there is a Donked, boat paint, muscle car or a slammed, fart-piped, 3-series BMW with screwed on Buick vent-a-ports! California is very strange!

For an apartment at that price I would have to work all the time and sublet it to someone else so I could pay the bills.

Chris,
It's not just California, it's the whole West Coast. Everything between Baja and BC. I can't speak about our neighbors (neighbours), since it's been a while since I visiter either.
I think is must have something to do with Interstate 5. Probably somethin' in the pavement.

East side of the mountains in Washington St is quite abit cheaper than Seattle area. Bigger population base over there.

Throught out my life I have seen some stupid styles of fixing up your car or trucks and they came west coast like the air shoks and 50s cramd under the fender wells of a cuttlas a low riders so low to the ground they can't go over rail road tracks and tented windows so dark you can't see out of them. What do they have? A room full of drug burn outs thinking up this crap? Me and my friends bought old trucks.we didn't follow no trends.
