Uni Tonneau Cover

Has anyone found an Extang or other Tonneau Cover that fits a unibody long bed?

I don't know where this guy got his but it sure worked well and looked good

mine is the type that can be made to fit anything and is simi water proof, think I paid $225.00? at your local uphostery shop

These things aren't high tech to install, so it's not that hard to find one to fit most trucks if you can spend some time at a junkyard with a tape measure. If you can find a newer box that matches those dimensions, the rest is easy. The Extang hinged soft cover mounting system is pretty adjustable from what I've seen, so it isn't hard to adapt it to most bed designs.

A 'normal' 64-66 long bed measures 64 7/8" ID side to side and 99 1/4" or so OD front to back. I have to find my notes (and do the write-up I've been putting off for a year) but I think a 1984 vintage Ford wound up being about the same. The beds were fairly standard up into the 1990s when they started adding all sorts of plastic top rail caps and tailgate protectors that make it impossible to swap around.

The same sort of measurements can be used for bed liners but you also need to measure the location of the wheel wells. Similar vintage liners work pretty well with the exception of the stake pocket locations. Not always a problem with over the rail liners but under the rail won't work unless you cut them out for the pockets.

Dodge trucks are similar in dimensions but none of the GM trucks I measured would work. However, if you're doing a Uni or a Fridge bed you're starting from scratch.

But it is a little more difficult with a Uni. The very front corners of the bed, where it curves around the cab make it so that finding one to swap over is very difficult if not impossible. A tonneau for a Uni will probably have to be custom built.

Your right they look great. I was planning on having a canvas cover made but some of these new covers look pretty good and seem like they might fit. I am moving to Washington so I was hoping for a water tight cover.

I was thinking the same thing

I measured mine, outside measurements are:
99.5 inches long
70 inches wide

I see what you are taking about Charlie. The back window sits about a half an inch to the rear of the front of the stake pocket. Something will have to be massaged

That's what I am doing now. I was hoping to give my poor truck a little more class to impress the new neighbors.

Does anyone have an F150 longbed that you can measure for me?
