Coming events, another project

Post by Uncle Skip »

Well, I didn't hear from Moose or Adam so I bought another '63 frame today.
And so begins another chapter of "How I manage to evade finishing Nadine and still stay married."
I am going the full route on this frame this time, the way I should have done originally.
Hopefully I'll incorporate a bunch of ideas I came up with as I worked on the original effort.
But this time, along with those maverick ideas, I'm going to put power steering on a straight axle truck.
And no, not a Toyota box. Something cheap and available.
As always, I will document everything and report it here; success or failure.
Project will offically kick off some time next month, so stay tuned.
Film at 11

Skip,

I didn't get in touch with adam until yesterday. And I found out that you wouldn't have wanted that frame anyway. The truck was hit broadside by a bread truck, right in the drvier's door, so you can imagine the carnage.

But I will be going out to take a look with Adam this week, we hope. To see what is there.

Skip, "cheap and available" good old Ford Slave cylinder and valve PS setup. You can still buy parts for these. Are you moving Nadine to a new frame or starting a whole new truck?

please explain the ford power steering/valve system for those of us who don`t know what you are referring to. i would like to put ps on my `63 straight axle if it was cheap. it might delay my installing a whole new front end....jack

Are you talking about using the p/s ram setup like the bumpside F250 4x4's use originally?

Ya'll just be patient and lets see what comes out of the experiment.
If it works, it will be far superior to the old slave cylinder arrangement I promise.
Less complicated, cheaper, and cleaner.
As for swapping the frame on Nadine once I get it all done, I've changed my mind at least 100 times since yesterday.
That decision will just have to wait until I see if my idea will work.
Are you hanging on the edge of your seats?
Bwahahahahahahahaha............................. da Shadow knows.

I am all over this....

I have my special engineering suit all pressed and ready to go.

....Ahem....I wish to have the title of "Vice ASSistant Supreme Commander"

also while I am ASSisting in this project.

"Black Betty" will be in attendance to give "Nadine" emotional support while her innards are being worked on of course.
