I have 17's on front and 18's on back. The key is to get a wheel that doesn't look like a NBA player would put on his Escalade. Get one that looks period correct, then don't put short little tires on the wheels. I used 235x55/18 out back and 215x55/17 on front. Both have sidewalls that appear about the same height as measured outward from the rim, so they look proportional.
Big wheels also require big brakes or they look ridiculous. The truck also needs to sit low enough so there is not a big gap at the fender, or the big wheels look really out of place. I would have used 17s out back also but could not get a tire that was 28" tall and still fairly wide.
I could not get the pic posted correctly, but here is a link to mine. It will sit about 2" lower when completed.

Here is a link to a video of my truck with 19" wheels. I think they look good when done right. Cheap chrome 'bling' wheels dont suit slicks in my opinion.
