Does anyone know anything about Watson Auxiliary transmissions?
The tag says Watson Transmission
Brown-Lipe
Spicer
Model # 45

I believe the "Watson" is a rebuilder and you have a Brown-Lipe trans, known as a Brownie Box in the old days. They made all sizes, three to five speeds.

The yahoo Detroit diesel group has a chart on the brownie gear ratios but it is looking for a four digit number like 8345-C

`posted this sometime back.scroll down for pic. watson was a single speed aux. mounted one way it was an underdrive, turn it around it was an overdrive. about as scarce as brownies.

Here is the auxiliary transmission.
It weighs 115 lbs.
In under drive three rounds on the input shaft produces two turns on the output shaft.
In direct drive it is 1:1
In Overdrive three turns on the input shaft produces four rounds on the output shaft.
Is that a 50% under, 25% over?
I will have to clean it up and open it up but it turns smooth.
Dimensions are 19" long 12" high and 12" wide.

Hello, did you end up using the Watson? Things aren't jiving between my 65 F-250 -parking brake - Brown Lipe 5531-A and auxiliary gas tank. Looking at other possible options.

I did use the Watson.
I used parking brake but I don’t have auxiliary tank.

Did you get your expected fuel mileage increase? I am going ahead with the Brown Lipe install on mine nut leaving out the fuel tank for now. I will install the tank when I install the Clark with the transbrake. If that does not work out I will just stick a transbrake on my current NP435 then install the gas tank.
