Slick 60's

Friday afternoon I stopped by one of the local U pull its and found out they were having a $100 all you can pull out of the yard on a lawn wagon sale. Walk through yard and and see a 1978ish F150 that still had the disc brakes and power steering box. The 3 speed manual column was already gone

So I call up Gerald (Gritsngumbo) and he wants it for his 1966 Ranger. He decides to come on over Saturday morning and get it. I want to get a few things myself, 1998 Mustang rear disc brake setup, 1999ish Explorer 5.0 V8 heads and intakes and the alt/ac/ps brackets and pulleys off the Explorer. I do what I can Friday and get ready for Saturday morning. I get there minutes before opening at 8 AM and am the first one in. Get the rest of the Mustang disc brakes and start on the Explorer.

Gerald shows up around 830ish. I tell him someone has already pulled the discs and power steering off of the F150. He's like "what!" Then I tell him that someone is ME. I pulled it off Friday afternoon got it done in just under two hours! Already loaded on the cart LOL. So I get back to work on the Explorer engine. I pull off the brackets, heads, intake, timing cover, and harmonic balancer. Gerald hands me tools and helps out when needed. Gerald and I decide to try to load everything on one wagon so each of us only has to pay $50. I pulled off another Explorer intake and added that to the pile. So on this wagon I have a set of I beams and brakes (180 lbs) steering box (40 lbs) set of heads (100 lbs) two intakes (about 120 lbs) brackets and pulleys ans stuff (about 80 lbs) and the Mustang axles and disc brakes (another 80 lbs) So thats about 600 pounds on this poor wagon. I take a serpentine fan belt, loop it thourgh the wagon handle and use it like a harness to pull that wagon. Gerald pushes for a while but the last part in front of the "shack" I have to pull it myself. Made it across the finish line LOL.

I forgot I had the exhaust manifolds on there as well. Thats another 40 pounds LOL! This yard was crushing ALL the cars on Monday (today) so they can biring in all new stock. Figuring 600 pounds of stuff they got about $160 per hundred, about what they get from the scrapper for large dealer price.

GREAT HAUL!! That reminds me of back in mid-eighties, a local yard had a "All you can carry for $19.95" day....well, this one big (6'-4", 240lbs) fellow that I work with went out there....grabs a BBC four core rad, makes up a harness for it out of nylon rope.....now he has what ammounts to a big table (think beer or hot dog vendor) attached to himself......after covering the rad with cardboard so as to not bugger up the fins, he proceeds to add a huge heaping mound of GM HEI distributors on top of the rad!! This is back when everyone was swapping their older points type dizzys out for HEI:):)
When he went to pay, the fellows at the yard were whining HARD....but he was well within THEIR rules:) And he got good $$ for each & every one of those dizzys too!!
