That handle serves two purposes. First for looks, it matches the "handles" on the Bed. And second it allows you to remove the whole console quickly & conveniently and use it in any of your other vehicles.

Someone needs to rescue that poor thing.

Yes, that was a one year only option that was available on F100s sold in Mexico. The toggle switches control the hydraulics and the twin air horns that were mounted on the hood.
