anyone got a source for some "flat" chrome trim rings for my wheels? most i see are beveled, for lack of a better word. i want the inside of the ring to sit flush with the rim. my wheels look like this: L and not like this: \_
i am probably not making any sense.
i want something like this:

but my back wheels are wider and the inside of the trim ring will not be flush with hoop of the wheel.
can anyone decipher what i am trying to say??? lol help.

Well Chris, there are two styles. One thin without the ridges, the other is wide like the one you're showing in picture #9.
I just bought a set for my wheels (mine are the thin ones) and I'll try to remember to take pictures tomorrow for you, but they don't fit right up to the edge of the wheel rim. None of them do. Look closely at the pictures. They snap inside the dish and leave about 1/2" of color showing between the tire and the trim ring.
I hope I answered your question.
I would, however, buy the trim rings from the same wheel manufacturer. Dude at Pate told me they were all the same, but I wouldn't gamble $100 bucks to prove it.

no no skip. lets go the other way to the inside of the wheel. most trim rings are smaller in diameter on the insides than the outsides because most wheels taper in towards the centers. my wheels are the same diameter from the inside of the bead ring to the point where they are welded to the centers. damn. i need to learn all of the correct terms for parts of the wheels so i can make some sense here.
see how in the picture (no.9) the rings taper from the outsides to the insides. i want trim rings that aren't tapered, if that's possible. that is why i haven't bought any yet. i can't find what i'm looking for.
maybe i should just start a "show my your trim rings" thread and see what gets posted. lol

Chris, do you have aftermarket wheels or stock Ford wheels. If you have stock wheels, I think what you're looking for is the trim rings like the ones that come off the factory Ford "argent colored" wagon wheels. Find one of them and try it. If you were here in Houston I'd loan you one. They are wide rings though.

my fronts are stock. the rings like you have will work fine for those. the rears are home made. the centers take the innie cap although they don't have a ford stamping on them anywhere, but i have no idea what the hoops are. they are a true 8" wide and from what i have read ford didn't make an 8" wide innie wheel.

Chris, when people started widening wheels back in the 50's they found a rim to suit their needs, eg. 8" wide, mounted them on the fixture jig, figured the offset and then welded in the proper center. Google the history of widened wheels, its very interesting.
Try the factory Ford beauty rings I talked about first to see if they fit, front and rear. I think they'll fit your fronts for sure.

Chris, do you have a depth measurement? I have some like what (I think) you are describing, but can't remember if they are 14" or 15".
That's assuming I can find them. I spotted them a few weeks ago, but not sure where. Seems to me they are almost 4"" deep and similar to the Torino Mustang design. not sure if they came off the argent "styled" wheels, the later Magnum 500 type, or something else entirely.

i have actually read up on widened rims. i was going to make some from chebby 4x4 wheels on ford centers then found these already made. i still want to try my hand at making a pair one day.

Chris, the trim rings on the factory wagon wheels are probably what you're looking for if you want trim ring over the rim. I have a good set if you can't find them locally. Do a Google and see if that isn't the kind you want.
