Slick 60's

I have a 65 with a 352, and the throttle cable snapped today as I was about to leave for work. I need a new one, but I dont know where to get an original style cable from. Any Ideas?

I think Dennis Carpenter carries it for less than that. You should also check with Flashback F100s who posts on here, and Carolina Classics. I thought they were around $65-70.

I looked in Carpenter's and Carolina Classic's catalog. NPD was the only one that had an accelerator cable listed. You can also try Lokar for hotrod not original cables.

I had the same problem and found an original but had a problem with it (can't remember what). What I did was just buy the Locar braided throttle cable. Easy to install and if it ever has problems then I will just send it back to them or get a new part for it. You don't have to get braided for it, they make plain black which is just fine.

As a new Slick owner are there any parts that are in danger of becoming extinct that you guys know of that are good to get now while you can find them? Or are most parts readily available?

That is what i did. I ordered a lokar braided cable, will install it tomarrow when I get it.

It depends on the part. For example, body parts are becoming more readily available now, than they have been in 20 years. A lot of interior pieces too.
Some stuff that's been discontinued by Ford hasn't been taken up by the aftermarket because of demand or cost, or both.

But it's still easier to get parts for these trucks than it is for something like a 65 Lincoln, for example.

For the braided local cable the only thing that will not work with it is hooking it up to the pedal. The reason why is because it's like a ball and socket setup and the Lokar is not. All you do is drill or hit the rivet out on the gas pedal lever up top and that hole that the rivet was in is big enough for the pin in the Lokar cable to fit it. The Lokar setup at the gas pedal has a U like thing and to close that U up the top or middle has a pin going through it... You will see what I mean when you get it in. Simple though and the braided looks nice as well, especially if you have braided hoses.

Got the cable all installed today. Didn't have any problems at all. I should have did this 2 years ago, it is so smooth! And it looks killer in my engine bay to.
