non-slick clutch issue

Post by ICEMAN6166 »

ran across this on c/l , my interest is mainly the bed

"I am not a Ford guy, so I don't know exactly what the problem is, but I was told that the current engine was swapped into it to replace a bad engine. The new engine is bolted to the bellhousing, but the wrong clutch was used, so it will not engage the transmission. I can not say for sure if that is accurate, but it is what I was told."

im not aware of any major differences between FE and 429/460 clutches. i am guessing the adjustment rod could be the wrong length and this would create the non-engagement problem.
something else i possibly could be missing ?

i have not contacted the seller and at this point its curiosity of what could be wrong but if the truck could be had cheaply and i got a free dump bed it may be worth it.i do not however wish to do any major work.
