Vent Window Rubber??

I just got my new Left and Right vent window rubber from DC. I thought I had the installation figured out but now I'm not so sure. I didn't think I'd have to remove the window but now it looks like I do in order to get the lower pivot pin through the hole in the rubber. I hate to play with that window because it's really stiff and doesn't like to move. I was hoping my shop manual would tell me what to do but it doesn't. Anybody know how to do it?? I thought it was gonna be a quick simple job...I shoulda known better!
Advice much appreciated..Thanks Gents!

You have to pull the divider bar to get any slack in the vent frame, which means at least pulling the window down. Three screws hold the vent frame in, one is to the divider bar. Then there is a twist trick to get the vent wing frame itself out.
The DC catalog from '06 has a "how-to" on page 112-113, I think that's the one still available on-line, that's what I used for a guide.
It might be good to pull the window crank mechanism out & see about a cleaning/refurb, that is bad on mine on the pass side, of course just playing with the divider bar & glass run may clear up troubles for you there.

Well I tried my best but I couldn't get the vent windows to come out of the frames. Worse yet, they barely still pivoted on the pins. I figured I was pretty close to breaking something so I went for plan B. I really just wanted good looking rubber seals instead of the cracked and pretty much missing old ones; plus, I really don't plan on opening and closing the vent windows anyway.
So, I made a small slit on the INSIDE portion of the seal at the lower pivot pin hole. I then greased up the seal with a lot of vaseline and carfeully worked it into place from the outside in. It took some time and patience (both of which I have very little of!!) but it worked out OK. From the outside it looks perfect and from the inside you can just barely see the slits. After some quick checks, I was satisfied...nice tight seals with no wind or water leaks. I imagine if I was going to use the windows regularly that it would eventually cause problems but given what I had to work with, it's acceptable to me.
