FYI.
Got to meet Irl and look at his headliner up close and personal at Pate this weekend.
What a great product. I think there was some concern that the radio pod was going to interfere with your vision, but not so. Anyway, if I hadn't already bought the Rod Doors unit, I'd damn sure have gotten this one instead.
And...... his door panel inserts are way better than any of the other new units I've seen and he's sold out of them too.
BroncoTom and 65Lover (I think) bought the last headliners he had.
Coogar got the last set of door inserts.
Irl said he didn't think he was going to make any more so you guys and gals that waited are going to have to find another source.
Irl, great to meet you in person. If you do decide to make your headliners again, be sure to bring us up to speed here first.

What I said was I couldn't make any more molds until I at least scabbed over (healed up) from the '40 pickup mold we just finished last Monday. Having only had two ice cold beverages all weekend, I'm pretty sure that's what I said or at least that's what I was trying to convey! Two of the five we took down there made the ride home, all five of the '40 headliners made the ride home too.
The Houston group were thoroughly impressive enthusiast. Odds are there are some great looking trux down there. My four Ranger buddy from AR said there was another group of guy's there with a couple of nice F250s, and a lowered Holly Green/ White Custom Cab that was looking really good. It was hard for me to get away from my space so I didn't get to shop much or just stroll around. It was a good trip.

Uncle Skip, sell me your rod door headliner and you can buy the glass one. I'd buy the fiberglass one if it didnt have the radio console. I love it otherwise and would install it without covering it. Saw it at SS V and loved it (except for the console).

That headliner console is what this hobby is all about. I get it. You are not thrilled with it. It would make a great home for a 23 channel C.B. radio, a trio of guages, a 5 inch tach with some toggle switches for accessories (i.e dome lights-fog lights-utility lights-back up lights-electric fan-electric fuel pump-ignition cut off-electric cut off-starter button-your accessory of choice...). None of yous guys are taking these heaps to Pebble Beach, so just build it the way you want it. I would also consider putting a radio delete plate in the dash and putting a satellite radio in the console.

The truck was made in U.S.A. and the guy who made this console does not have a shop in Taiwan.

When my '66 goes from being frame rails to a truck, I am this guys next customer. At the rate I am going, I hope his grandchildren inherit the business.

About three months ago I offered to cut up a unit, glass over the gap, spend the time to make a really nice plug, make a mold, and start producing the headliner your describing. It was a simple offer, with ten orders, each accompanied with a $50 deposit I would be making those headliners within 90 days of hitting the tenth order mark. Not one single reply! Not one! We're now producing a '40 Ford pickup unit instead, it doesn't have the console.

If you're serious, we might work something out. I'll sell you my Rod Doors headliner at a discounted price because I mistakenly cut a hole for a dome light that turned out to be to big to mount. It can be filled with a piece of ABS (which I'm planning to do) and re-covered.
Or, you can have Irl send me the fiberglass unit direct and I'll send you my ABS headliner from Houston.

Yea, I think gauges would look great up there. But whether they were mechanical or electrical you would have to plumb them I would think pretty far. Like, down the side of one of the back sail pieces under the seat etc, etc. and thru the firewall or something. Not sure you could get wires or lines down the front windshield post…but maybe without showing. worth a try.

Might be a good place for a gps.

Wiring's not a problem; they could be run down the A-pillar, or even tucked under the w/s gasket. I don't think I would put mechanical gauges up there, however. I "think" there would be room to mount gauges with angle bezels on the driver side of the console, and still install the single-DIN sound/ navigation package of your choice.

What language is "Sin Loi", I'"m betting VIET, Lao, OR TAHI and what does it mean. More importantly how do I post pictures as a answer to somebody else's post? Pate! I Really enjoyed being back in Shoestring and back out on the road. Next year I'm shooting for driving the little six cyl 4x4. My grandson and I , in that old white truck, are going to pull a '67 model 24' Airstream to Des Moine to the Hearland Nationals, the run down to Pate was just a good shake down for that. Help me out on that posting issue, thanks.
