well now, that went way better than expected. the problem i was having was that it wouldn't idle the same way twice. i took everything apart, blew thru all of the passages and put everything back together. the float was set a couple 32nds low so i fixed that and the anti stall (return idle) dashpot wasn't adjusted either, so i spec'd that out too. reinstalled the carb and it basically fired right up. a little idle adjustment and it was purring llike a kitten. now it idles like it should. awlrite!
