460 and manual trans in a 66
To get overdrive with my 460 I am thinking about a NV4500,anybody have a 460 and can most of the stock 66 clutch linkage be used. I am thinking a NV4500 would be a little cheaper then a gear vendors o/d or a E4OD so maybe its time to go back to a manual trans.

No 460 here but I have a NV4500 in my highboy and love it! All the stock linkage worked. I got an adapter from Advanced Adapters and bolted it up.
Same bell housing and all.
Same bell housing and all.

It has a C-6 in it now so I will have to hunt for a 460 bellhousing and flywheel,my 66 originally had a 4 speed and should still have the clutch linkage in the shed and I am glad I did not sell it.

You may want to consider a wide ratio ZF 5 speed (ZFS542). Came stock behind the 460, granny first, od fifth. Or it's brother the ZFS547.66camperspecial wrote:To get overdrive with my 460 I am thinking about a NV4500,anybody have a 460 and can most of the stock 66 clutch linkage be used.
