Called around to a few places and no one does hand painting anymore, its all gone to vinyl. So I decided I'd give it a go myself. Not to bad but not as sharp as I'd like.

I would bet you could take a magnifying glass and a " fine point " sharpie and make them look even better . They look good though .

I think I'm gonna experiment and try painting them white first, then shooting the black and taking some superfine sandpaper and sand off the black paint to expose the white letters underneath.

I paint custom car parts(among other things) for a living, and have seen this done about 43 different ways it seems like. Your method will work, but it may wind up being very tedious. You may want to wet sand if you use this process.....it'll be less likely that you burn through.

I would suggest this, however: Take a paper towel and roll it up really tight. Fold it over on itself, and then tape forming a base. Dip it in to the paint, dab it a little to remove the excess, then with a straight down, level motion, dab your letters.

No matter how you do it, good luck buddy. Let us know how it turns out.

What about shooting the first coat(white)in an oil based paint and then shooting the black in a water based paint and then wipe of the black to expose the white?

Just be careful doing that because your going to cover up the ford logo, ( it's not raised lettering) The best way is the way Shaffer explained it. I seen the name Shaffer and not many of us spell our name this way shaff...... Nice to see you know how to spell our name. LOL

I'm not worried about the logo.

Looks awesome!

And be safe in the fact that any little mistake you make will scream out it's presence at you, but no one else in the world will notice it...
