I drive it all the time in PA. Here, it's no fun because it's too much congestion, but further west it's very Route 66-ish.

I drove that road from Sacramento to I-70 in 92, sure seemed like a long haul, but interesting scenery.

When we where running our semi we would take it out of Reno to Salt Lake City faster than running I-80 may years ago,,, we since then have run it across from I-70 in Utah to Reno but not much trucks to look for and in someplaces no cell phone service,,, from Reno over to Sacremento lot of nice views through tunnels, we had a delivery place in Diamond Springs Ca. so we run that way also then into Ca. to pick up produce.....

In the town i live in now, old 30 is the main east/west road. In my area of Iowa, hwy 30 is now a 4 lane that bypasses around most of the small towns. We still ride old 30 on the cycles when we go on dinner rides or just to go out and have a nice paced scenic (?) cruise. 2 lanes wide, twists and turns, repairs all over it and a million little towns along the way make for a great road to explore.
Thanks for the link,
Matt
