Slick 60's

it's pretty rusty but the price was right.....hopefully be trustworthy enuf to make it to Altoona....gonna shitcan the 6 and put in a 302 and auto

got the parts truck in to start teardown yesterday, was just gonna use pieces and parts off the 62 (p.t.) but I think my 64 will end up as a 62 instead. the floors and overall condition of the 62 cab is SOOOOOOO much better than the 64. some pics of the teardown, we all know how we like pics. Jeff

built my own floor panels.....takes some time and patience but didn't turn out too bad. my buddy built the lower A-pillar while I was welding in the floors. did a pretty good job.
still got a lot of "reconstruction" to go but we're getting there. Jeff

well... got some more done this weekend, front cab mounts, lower cowl and lower a pillar. my buddy built the lowers out of flat sheet metal......think i'll start introducing him as Pat the human English wheel. all in all it came out better than I had hoped for. Jeff

Thanks Steve, if you want it warmer , you'll have to wait til spring or summer I don't have a lot of pull with Mother Nature, but I can try.... Jeff

well I got the cab corners roughed in today maybe I can get this out of the garage and let my jeep back in for a minute. won't be too long before the truck comes in for teardown. Jeff

my Jeeps gonna be pissed, only one night in the garage and here comes the truck in for teardown......got basically everything ready to come apart. seems like my buddy Pat "the human English Wheel" is also a master dismantler. he walked in and just started tearing it down, it's nice to have friends with ambition here's some more pics Jeff........

Your garage isn't all that big, you are going to run out of room in a hurry with parts from 2 trucks in there.

NOOOOOOOO..........Mama is gonna run out of room. the garage is MY room, she's got the "Million Dollar Bathroom" and the mother-in -law apt for a closet.......actually I just keep shuffling stuff around but her car will sit out while I do all the dirty work. Jeff

got the cab and front clip off and started working on the frame.....by the way thanks for the info LM14 sawzall worked great, picked up a tranny so I can figure out where the engine and tranny will mount.....pulled the front axle and found out that the shackle bushing housing is toast maybe the ones on the parts truck are good, i'll just keep plugging along. the shackle housings on the parts truck were salvageable, just had to order bushings from LMC. got the other axle in place and just waiting.........so I went ahead and painted the frame, i'll have to repaint some areas when I box in the frame but I was bored. Jeff

got to the first (of many I'm sure) test fits to try and locate motor and trans looks like the engine will be in and out a lot. Jeff

Looking good! You sure are moving along fast.

Have you had the cab on while test fitting the engine? Be sure it clears the floor pan and firewall.

Steve, just trying to see how everything up front clears right now, gonna put the cab back on b4 any final fittings.......
now, got the old rear end out today, that thing has got 3:89 gears , it'd take me two weeks to make a road trip, will try to get the one from the parts truck in this week. shouldn't be much of a problem, all the bolts broke loose inside the bushings , Jeff

and just for kicks

got the rear ends switched around put the one under the parts truck and the springs are so bad it looks like 1/2 a low rider.... then we put the rear end back in and the cab back on, gotta make another run to Speedway and get the right tranny supportit's coming along, but still got a lot of work to do. got the firewall cleaned up and set the motor in (again), gonna have to "customize" the mounts, no biggie tho. got some of the wiring sorted thru and checked out the heater to make sure all is well. Jeff
