352 FE engine stroke

Post by rust bucket »

I have what i thought was a 352 Fe, but with heads off pistons don't top out. They sit at about 1/4" to 3/16" below block surface. Any ideal what is going on here. Ordered new 352 pistons and same thing going on.

Ive learned Ford FE's are .030 to .040 in the hole from the facory. If you had a mixed combo of 390 rods and 352/360 crank you could be as much as .068 in the hole at TDC.

EDIT: Check me on the exact rod length difference. Mic the piston to deck at TDC.
