Slick 60's

I picked up a NOS fuel pump that has the filter. When I cracked open the filter, time as formed some sort of white deposit on the inside that sort of looks like calcium, but Lime Away does not dissolve it cleanly. Any ideas and what will remove it?

ZEP Calcium cleaner from Home Depot used full strength clean it out nicely.
