intake on wrong side?

I have a 1962 uni, and I have seen photos of other owners engine bays. It seems that my intake manifold is on the opposite side as most people's. It is a straight 6.

Any info on this? Could it be a specific engine, like a tractor engine/model/version?

There were 2 different straight 6s put in Slicks depending on the year. 61-64 223 or 262, 50s era straight 6 intake & exhaust manifolds on the drivers side of the engine. 65-66 240-300 "big" 6 intake & exhaust on the passenger side of the engine. If yours matches the wrong one, may have been swapped in.

look on driver side and see if you see the casting numbers i had a 262 that had the intake on driver side and right below it had the numbers if so post em somebody can probably tell you alot bout it

Casper had a Granada 250 six stuck in him when Max brought him back from Colorado.
That was NOT a pretty sight.

Look and see if the head, intake and exhaust are all one casting. The Falcon/ Maverick/ Granada series have the manifolds on the passenger side.
The truck 6's should have the manifolds on the drivers side.
If you have the 170/250 motor, use it for a boat anchor.

Sound like you have the right engine, 223 used till the 65s came out, then they switched to the 240, which had the manifolds on the pass side. Ford's answer to the need for an overhead engine, 215 led into 223. Good little engine, has only 4 mains, so can't take quite the pounding that a 240 or 300 can. I have one in my pickup. It will serve you well unless you pound it.

I have both a 223 and a 300.

As they've already said, 223 has the intake on the drivers side, and the bigger sixes have the intake on the passenger side.
