Door Lock Question

Post by Gritsngumbo »

Can anyone give me advice on how to get the little rod out of the door lock lever? I've removed the clip holding the lock in, but can't get the little slidey thing to move. I've installed them before but I've never removed one. I want to put the locks out of my parts truck into my Uni (as the slidey thing is missing on one door and the rod falls out). I just don't want to break it off.

slidey thing=spring clip??? i'm having a hard time figuring out what you;re getting at. If you do break the spring clip, you can get replacements on the help rack at parts store. but have to buy random assortment.

I would just take some standard pliers etc and bite the edge and make it pop off...

I agree knife works great. I have never used it to remove hoses or pull cotter pins. It was sold to me as a hose removal/cotter pin puller. It comes in handy on all kinds of trim other things. Here is a link. They have changed a little in the past 15 years. Mine does not have the extra curve at the tip.

Hey Grits, I think the clip you mean, it actually unclips off the straight shaft and pivots on the part going through the lever, then just pull it out of the lever. :? if that doesn't work it must be some other way :)

Alan,
