Howdy, I'm from FORDification, and a few guys referred me to Y'all. O.K. I'm a Bumpside fan through and through, but I love the look of the slicks :D and I've got a few questions for Y'all 'bout slicks and all, first, I've found a 63 F-250 4x4, Hiboy, 292, np435, closed kunckle d44hd, D60 rear, no title cry.gif and he wants 1500 for it, I'm not sure what condition it's in, rust-wise or anything, but I have to ask, Deal or no Deal?

Well $1500 plus $400 for title puts you at about $2000.

2k for a rust bucket, even if it runs is not worth the trouble.

2k for rust free with minor or no dents would be a very good deal, even if the engine is not working etc..

Rust is THE ISSUE. In my experience here for the last 6 years of reading about these trucks, it pretty much somes down to that. Machanicals are all fixable. dents can be pulled. Rust is forever.......

I've got the same truck except for 1962 vs 1963. It was in average shape with minimal rust, an old but reliable 292 and a decent interior. I paid almost 6K for mine but that's what a clean older truck goes for here in the Northeast "Rust Belt."
Other than Carburetor and Radiator issues, it's been a great truck to own. My opinion is for $1500 it's well worth your time and energy to own!!

I TOTALLY agree, everybody claims that if it's running, it's worth a mint. WRONG! You can always drop another engine in it, the condition of the body is what makes up a large portion of what its worth. I'm still thinking about only offering 1K for it regardless of rust, mechanics, etc... But what I meant by "Deal or know Deal" is, is it worth dealing with a truck with no title? :?:

Sounds like for a fee, the title can be replaced. So in that case, you just figure than in.

Of course, you'd want to get the particulars just why this title has gone AWOL. I mean, if it was a running truck, then why wasn't it registered? If it was registered recently, the person to whom it was registered can usually apply for a lost title and get it replaced. Even if that person is dead, the estate can apply for a title.

Perhaps it is one of those "gramps let the registration lapse in 79 and now he's dead and gone and we "forgot" to put it in the estate". Of course, what happens when the other heirs get wind that the old truck bubba said was only worth $50 for scrap was just sold by bubba for $1500.....

That's why the bond I suppose......

my 66 4x4 ran me $700 and I drove it home. mechanicals were all fine, engine, trans, Xfer case, frame in great shape but body shot. the only parts I'm reusing from the body are the hood and tailgate. I bought anothe 66 for $300 off E-bay and drove 3 1/2 hours one way to get it. In my opinion, a truck is worth whatever YOU wan't to pay for it. If it runs and drives sheet metal can be replaced and on the flip side, if the body is good the mechanicals can be redone. oh yeah, my first truck I redid in 1987/88 was a 1967 bumpside. first year for the bump. take a good look at it and be reasonable on your offer and don't forget the time you'll have invested.....Anthony :2cents:

Several years ago I purchased a project with out a title. Found that the last person that had titled the car had passed away 20 years before.

They told me I could go through the bonded title, but if any relatives could put a claim on the car and get it back for the amount of the bond.

I decided it was not worth it and traded it off for parts.

This was in Nebraska.

Have Fun!

Thanks alot for the responses Y'all :D I'm not sure what I'm going to do, I'll probably just swap another truck cab/body on the running gear (if I get it cheap enough) and title it like that.

Hey Alan, I get yer drift

I purchased a car in texas many years back, what Texas motor vehicle said I had to do, and what I did, was Send a certified letter to the previous owner asking for either the title or a document showing they no longer have interest in the vehicle. I did that, and fortunately for me the certified mail came back returned because that person was no loger available. the DMV will get you all the information you need to do this, it was very simple. of course in colorado its a joke to get that done. so I dont mess with them up here.
